MF 35 Regulator

Hi,
I am a newbie here and looking for help.
I am currently bringing a Pos earth MF 35 back to life for sentimental reasons and would like some info on the voltage regulator, is it required with an alternator?
I have installed an alternator wired through a bulb on the dash and also changed from Pos to Neg Earth.
My question is can i get rid of the external Regulator now? Does the regulator in the alternator do the same job?

Yep! If your alternator has an internal reg, you won't need the old "black box".

Yep you can do away with that one now, we did that on my old Ford Hoe and a few of my lift trucks. When you referred to the MF35 as a POS is it one with a Perkins Gas burner. A friend of mine has 3 one is a Perkins Diesel and one Is the Contenintal gas and the other is a Perkins Gas and its the step child.

Thanks for the reply.
Just to be sure, can you tell from the exterior if an alternator has an internal regulator as i thought all alternators had Regulators built into them.
Mine is a Three wire of a 1987 Ford escort.
