MF 1655 pto

I have about a 1978 MF 1655. The front/mid pto shaft is loose in the housing and not turning smoothly. I would think it needs new bearings and possibly new shaft. I would like to remove the shaft and bearings but not having any luck, with snap rings off I thought the shaft would come out but it's not. Does someone have any ideas.

I took mine out last year and if I remeber correctly you have to take both big nuts off either end as the brgs sitting inside the nuts.The shaft will come out easy after you do that.I kinda think the shaft has a snap ring on the inside if I remeber correctly.Larry

Ok thanks, I wasn't sure if those big nuts actually turned or not. I'll try those next. thanks again
