MF 1428V broken frame

Thought I was stuck until I noticed the axle wasn't perpendicular to the tractor. Just behind the rear axle is a casting that the front axle drive shaft enters the rear of. This casting bolts onto a frame piece that runs parallel to the axle. This frame piece is broken at both ends where it was welded to the long frame pieces. Rewelding this seems like just delaying the next breakdown by not much. The repair weld can't be as good as the factory welds. Has anyone had this trouble? Got any ideas?

First is the frame piece, the casting belongs where the bolt threads are showing. second is the casting, notice the drive shaft cover is torqued, shaft is broken

The repair weld can't be as good as the factory welds.

Why do you say that?

I said that because the factory welders had controlled conditions and new materials. Now there are wires, the engine and lots of stuff in the way.

I would re-weld, you should be able to loosen the frame from the engine enough to get a good weld. I would look into getting a welder to look at the damage and maybe he could give an idea of how to reinforce the repair so it will last.

The new frame cross member that goes between the frame rails is longer which allows for a better weld on both sides of the long frame rails. You cna reweld the one you have and then simply reinforce it by welding a short piece of angle iron around it (kind of like wrapping the corner wit hangle iron).
