MF 1240 PTO

Hello everyone. I'm new to the board.

I have a MF 1240 and when I first start it and engage the PTO the shaft spins for less than a minute and stops. It won't spin again until the tractor has set for a day.

Anyone know what might be causing this?

I haven't started trouble shooting yet and hoped somebody could get me looking in the right area.

Also have a 1240, just a question, you have the 540 pto lever engaged right? Its the lever to left of seat in front of 4x4 lever if equipped..
