Koiti Mechron 2200
I have been having problems shifting my, new to me, Mechron 2000 from reverse to netural. Sometimes i just shut it off and shift it that way. I stop it with the brake but sometimes the clutch, or what ever it is, doesnt release. Too many rpms, or cable adjustment?
Thanks, Randy

I'd mess with the clutch before I messed with the throttle. The clutch should be mechanical and should release regardless of the engine RPM. Obviously, you want the engine at a low speed and the Mechron stopped before you try switching.

thanks for the info, is there any adjustment or lube the clutch needs? Is there any info online on the clutch and adjustment or lube?

Is your idle speed set to specs.
Your CVT clutch uses centrical force to open/close. If your RPM's are to high the clutch may not open the whole way to fully release the belt can cause difficult shifting.
If it shifts fine with the engine shut off it sounds like you clutch's aren't fully releasing when running.

Will check that, almost makes me think the throttle cable might be getting stickey and not returning all the way sometimes.

This ^ ^. I don't like not having a tachometer, and diesels aren't easily 'up-fitted' without a spark signal to trigger one. I found this digital online with choice of red, blue, or green readout for <$20. One only has to mount the sender and epoxy the rare earth magnet & a cwt 'somewhere' opposite of each other. That said, my Mechron's axle lock and 4WD cables get water in them and at <32^F they don't 'melt loose' to allow engaging until the engine has warmed things up under the seat. If cables can accumulate water they can rust inside and hang up. I just had to redo shift cables on my bicycle for this. A throttle return spring or cable (foot pedal on Mechron) might just need replaced at most. Dunno about Idle adjustment, just that poor cold starting is 24/7/365.

I checked the throttle cable. With the engine off its still loose on the throttle shaft and i can manually move the throttle shaft back a little. With it running i can slow the motor a little bit. May a little spring to pull it back a little might help I looked up a new cable and will check in to replacing it. After looking where it attaches to the foot pedal i see where someone put a spacer, so i thing the cable is stretched out.
Thanks for all the info and help! Randy

I also have a touchless tachometer and will check the rpm

The throttle not moving all the way back to idle can cause the issue your having.
A small spring to help pull the throttle back may help

Had a similar issue on my golf cart with the cables sticking. I think it was stored outside before I got it and got water in the cable housing. It rusted up pretty good, and it was enough to cause enough drag to make the cable stick. Replacing the cable was the solution.
