MCS boot question

Does anybody know what the rectangular hole in the top of the mower deck boot is for?

A- Thats not supposed to be there..

B- There is supposed to be something installed there..


No power flow? How big is your deck?

I agree it shouldn't be there. Maybe it was for a relocated 'clog' meter - That little spinning thingie that lets you know when it's too late to empty the bags before the boot clogs.

Yes, it is there to monitor flow. I glance at it a lot when I know I'm reaching a full basket.

I've noticed my boot will clog up because the basket is full and the little spinner thingie will just keep turning?? WHats up with that??

Caledon Hills : Sorry I am not familiar with your "boot-hole" so can't help with it.

Thanks very much for the replies.
I bought a used but nice hydraulic dump MCS from a JD dealer without hose or boot. Hose was no problem from a local supplier and the boot kit from JD parts fit my 60" 7-Iron deck perfectly. The only problem has been nobody can definitively tell me what goes in the hole in the boot.
Any suggestions what deck set-up I can check out to find the part?

Put in your tractor model and then look at the parts breakdown for the attachments. With any luck it will show it in the parts list.
