First off, this is a great site. Advanced thanks to anybody that can help.

Last year I sold my Satoh (32hp, don't remember the model) tractor, and purchased a JD 4300. The Satoh had a two speed PTO, but the JD only has the 540speed.

We have gotten approx 18" of snow in the last week, and I finally had a chance to dig out the snowblower. With the Satoh, I would run the blower at the Higher PTO speed (904 RMP if I remember right), and it would throw snow about 75 - 100 feet. Now with the JD, I am lucky if I can get snow to go 20 feet. I realize this is because of the slower PTO, but the manual of the blower says it is rated at 540 RPM.

Does anybody know if McGee is still in business? And if so, how to contact them.

Or, where could I find parts to convert the ratio of the PTO input shaft?

Thanks,
Andy

Sorry I don't have any info for you, but are you sure it's a McGee and not a McKee? A google search on 'Mckee snowblower' brings up quite a few sites (unfortunately, not the manufacturer's).

What is the diameter of the impeller? If you are only getting a 20 foot throw one of two things is happening, or both: 1) the discharge velocity is very low, or 2) there is a lot of leakage between the impeller and the drum. To get a throw of 100 feet, you need a dishcarge velocity of about 5000 fpm and the gap between the impeller blades and the drum should be about 0.020".
