I have a 2013 MAX28 with a FEL that I use a set of pallet forks on and it seems as if the last couple of times I have used them on about a 800 Lb load in the bed of my truck it will lift the load a couple of inches and then just stop. Could it be a ball check issue?

Sounds normal.
Keep in mind you are lifting that much weight with pallet forks. That will decrease the lifting capacity the further out you load is placed from the piviot pins.

Yeah, 800 lbs out on forks is probably exceeding the lift rating (which is normally at the pins). Loads on forks are much farther out, and can reduce the rating by as much as 50% depending on how far out.

Are you saying in the beginning the loader was lifting the 800 lb. load, but after that it would not lift the same load?

Yes it did also I had lifted a RR Tiller from my truck bed before without the forks and the last time I tried it would not pick it.

Take and lift a 25# weight close to your body, then stretch your arms straight out and lift the weight. Its the same effect as the loader is experiencing.

Your dealer can test the pressure to make sure the relief is not set too light, but as said above, a little leverage is a big deal.

Pallet forks extreme

Seriously considering a Max28XL as our little tractor, Just hope pound for pound it is as strong as our L39.

You will ba giving up a lot of capacity going from an l39 to a max28. But since the max is smaller and much lighter, pound for pound is probably on par.

Also keep in mind that the backhoe is a significant counterweight. You will need something equally significant on any other machine you choose.

What RPMs are you running?
