Max battery cable

Here are the pictures, and I agree it doesn’t makes sense to me to have a fusible link feeding the fuse, and the diagram doesn’t really show one. However it also doesn’t makes sense to put a plug in connector that bolts to the battery terminal when they could have just put a crimped eye terminal.

That looks like plastic (flammable) connectors to me, not a fusible link

I also thought it was just a basic connector, just thought I’d throw it out there just in case. Going to replace both cables and have them made with ring terminals and use a marine or military style terminal.
