Massey same as Challenger(Cat)

Hi All, I have been shopping for a tractor, and had almost decided on the Challenger model MT265. It looks like the massey 1500 series is the same tractor, for about 3000-3500 less. Is this correct?? Is there any reason to pay that much more?...Thanks Danny

As far as I know it is is the same. 3,500 less? Wow.

Just make sure you are seeing everything. Same trans and so on. I just can't see how they would sell the "same" tractor but diff color for that much less.

The CAT B series is the same as the MF1500 series. If there is no B after the CAT model number, then its the same as the MF1400 series except for the hood.

Thanks for the replies. The challenger is sold by the cat dealer here, and maybe that is why the price is higher. I am going to try and get a hold of the Challenger salesman again, and see what he says about the pricing. It is the MT265B. Thanks for the clarification. Danny

Gonna go look at the Massey Sat morn. 1533 or 1540. FWIW, Cat dealer said....Yep they are higher, and yep same tractor...Go Figure...Danny

The nice thing about it is, you can't go wrong either way, yellow or red! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I have the MT265B (about 80 hrs) and have to say that it has been able to handle everything that I have been able to throw at it. The only thing I would wish for is the 12 speed synchro instead of the 8 speed that I have. It hasn't been a downer at all, but I always like to have more options... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Have a great time deciding, and give a yell if you need help.
