Ford 3400 industrial
Purchase a Ford 3000 tractor. It seems to be a great tractor, I am a little skeptical of the Select-o-speed. I have heard horror stories about this type of transmission, but went ahead and purchase it anyway. I am in the process of changing all fluids. I have recieved advice to do two things, buy a proper service manual and join a tractor foum. One down one to go. Marto

There are alot of those select-o-speeds still out there for sale in working condition. Prices are right and Ford made very good tractors. They were advanced for their time. From what I have heard, there are some band adjustments that need to be maintained in those.

In addition to finding a good manual, I also recommend buying some coffee for an oldtimer or collector in your area that knows those transmissions. A small investment in forming a relationship with one of these guys could be invaluable. Old tractor shows are a good place to meet someone who could tell you the ins-and-outs of your tractor.

Don't be afraid to get to know her before she gives you trouble. If you neglect her, she get mad and make you spend some time fixing her for sure.
