Does anyone sharpen the teeth on their manual thumb? My thumb seems to drop half the logs I try to pick up. The logs just slip right out.

Welding tusks on my thumb solved all that for me.

The curl should have enough psi applied to keep the log pinched in between the thumb and bucket of the backhoe.
I have seen where somone drilled an extra hole in the manual thumb bracket to have the thumb spaced for smaller objects.
No, I haven't and wouldn't sharpen the teeth as the hydraulics have enough force to grip objects.
Must be something going on here that is out of the ordinary?

@GeneV solution looks like a good fix.

I have no problem with my LS grabbing big or small logs.

No problem with my Kubota BH92 picking up logs or rocks. Have you tried a different setting?

OK, it sounds like an operator error. I will get me a couple logs of different sizes and practice picking them up with different settings. Thanks!
