Hello. I’m new to the forum world. We have equipment that needs constant repairs so it seems. I hope to gain valuable information and share what knowledge I have.

Dumb question. Is it "mandatory" to post an "intro" now? I've been seeing a lot of these lately but didn't really register with me that it was "mandatory".

I'm kinda anti-rules, anti-control, anti-mandatory . . . . just seems like someone should be able to sign in and browse if they prefer. But I'm not running things.

Welcome to the community.

It helps filter out spamming.

Like many rules, we all suffer because of the bad people in the world.

This is a reasonable one.

Welcome to the pool of knowledge! Come on in and get you're feet wet!

When you click on "new posts" or "today's posts" it's just full of these new member intros. Welcome to all, but most of these folks seem to be completing this assignment because they MUST. At the same time, I (we) are wading through the "clutter".

No offense to anyone. Just seems like Big Brother is making it more clumsy for everyone. Don't agree that it's reducing spam -- Kinda seems like it's creating it.

I'm done now. Just needed to point out that I've noticed a change in the last few weeks / month. (Don't tell me this has been a requirement for a couple years . . . . )

Spam, you know the bot post hawking things...maybe you don't but the mods spent a lot of time deleting them. Some of those are malicious.

I prefer the forum with less risk to its membership. Getting to know new members isn't a bad thing.

Of course, you could ask @Muhammad if they could exclude new member intros from the new posts group.

You seem to know all about this. I'm a little slow . . . How long has this been a "requirement"?

Not sure exactly. Ask the boss.

I do remember there was a discussion about it on a thread or two some time ago.

G'day Mate and welcome to TBN from Downunder.

Enjoy the site... from wherever in the world you are.

And, yes, the 'mandatory-introduction' is to vastly cut down on TBN being inundated by spam.

By the way, when I get tired of scrolling through all this forum clutter I usually switch over to https://mostbetbd.asia for a bit. Much more fun way to kill time.
I get what you're saying. It has become pretty noticeable lately. Every time I click on "New Posts" or "Today's Posts", half the page is just "Hi, I'm new, nice to meet you all" threads. It does clutter things up.

I don’t mind welcoming new people, but when there’s a flood of them it gets annoying having to scroll past the same generic intro posts over and over. Feels like the signal-to-noise ratio has gotten worse, not better.

I’m not sure forcing intros is the best solution either. Maybe they could have a separate "Introductions" section that doesn’t show up in the main new posts feed? Would keep things cleaner for everyone.

Anyone else finding the recent change a bit much?

I think it's a hassle for the new people too. Reminds me of the "mandatory" meetings we'd have at work. Everyone kinda resented it simply because it was "mandatory" -- felt childish.

Oh well, I'm probably not understanding how it keeps spam and bots out of the system. Just pointing out the downside, I guess.
