I did the income taxes last weekend.
We got refunds....the federal came in 8 days and the state in 9. That's pretty fast for government work. 
Does it still cost money to e-file? I've always just used the old fashioned paper/mailing method because I didn't want to have to buy a tax program and pay to file it.
Has that changed in recent years? It seems like e-filing would be better all around - I'm just too cheap!

I don't think the feds have come around to offering an online tax return yet. I won't go into why I think that's the case though..![]()

I love using the efile. Got the federal in no time at all. However, the state is another story. Our current governer in NYS decided that he wants to HOLD the state refunds due to lack of cash flow. I filed my taxes just one week before they announced the holding of our state tax refunds.
If they DON'T mail my refund by june, I believe they will have to add interest to my refund. :thumbsup: However, whats the point of efile if they gonna hold onto it. Waiting for a State Tax Refund? Don't Hold Your Breath | NBC New York
