My glow plugs packed it in last winter( 3616). They were back ordered at Mahindra but the parts man at our dealer gave me a Nippon(?)part number. I picked up the last 3 in BC at my local NAPA dealer.
Testing the glow plugs is very straightforward. Remove bus and check resistance of each. If one’s bad, and Mahindra is back ordered, look for MHI S3L plugs. Available at NAPA, Amazon, eBay. If I was a betting man I’d say the problem is the glow plug bus connector. Know problem, had to replace mine with simple crimp on ring connector. Some have also reported fusible links in the connector.
doneill127 - whoa!!!! THank you so much! I am most, most appreciative. a lot to read and look through.
i have seen some manuals online at a cost but not sure how good they were etc. for the price.
also since the stupid dealer has my machine and they were sourcing glowplugs - would seem like a bad idea to have them bring it back and it won;t start to dump it off on me at the moment.
added info but will have to check it out when i can. I have a midmower with less than 3-4 hrs on it that literally seems fozen. when you engage it puts so much strain on the engine it almost stalls out and the pto doesn;t do a thing.
saw a thread here years agp about maybe the costly gear box on the mid mower unit.... will have to attack asap when i can.
I have the same mower deck. I’d take the belt off then it should be easy to see if it’s the gearbox, one of the blade spindles or the idler pulleys. If I remember correctly, there’s a square hole in the spring tensioner that you put a 1/2 breaker bar into to relieve tension and remove belt
Just an update and semi review ----after almost 2 months got the tractor back and it seems to work nicely. they gouged the hell out of the piston/cylinder covers on the bucket. not sure what they did and how they did that - but had to be metal against metal so i am pissed. My mid mower froze after 3 hrs on it so i have to figure that out - that was bad news. I have had a few things go worng with it over the 10 years that I have had it but overall - it has been a useful and very good machine. Unfortunately my setup here has no cover or barn so it has lived outside for 10 yrs. i wash and mequiar gold labeled it every year except for the one year i had 3 major ops and heart op.so looking back i am pleased with the actual tractor! it has moved serious firewood and heavy logs and big 4 diameter red oak pieces that were almost to the extreme of the bucket lift capacity. The messed up dealer and mahindra part accessibility has been the main problem. Overall - i am glad i bought this tractor.
