Mahindra 6530

I am considering a 6530 Mahindra and would like some input.I will be bailing hay using my 1209 John Deere haybine and New Holland 845 round bailer.HP wise I believe it will be sufficient. I'm just wondering if anyone has some expierience with this? I think this is the right tractor considering Hp, Tire size transmission and remotes my other choice is a Massey 573 ,the massey dealer is 20 miles away and the nearest Mahindra dealer is 350 miles away any thoughts would be really appreciated thanks !! I currently own 2 Case SC's a 400 Case and a 300 International Utility

Nothing against Mahindra, but what are you going to do if your tractor breaks and your dealer is 350 miles away? I am I guess lucky, I have just about every tractor brand dealer out there within 20 miles or so. The closest being about 3 miles away.

Thats a good question? Like most people just starting out I have always had mostly recycled junk,every piece of equipment I have except my Bobcat are at least 50 years old and I constantly have to work on them every time i need them.Last summer I got a new S175 Skid steer and it was a big improvement moving round bales and feeding my cattle in this northern Minnesota winter.I hate to make decisions strictly on financial limitations but I also realize time is money.I need a dependable 4WD tractor with sufficient horsepower to make round bales that actually will start and work everytime I need it cause down time is tough to take when your making hay but I am capable of fixing anything myself when I need to.The distance to the dealer is a problem as I havent seen a Mahindra up close!

OK. This is a tough one for me. I am certainly partial to the Mahindra since my company makes the loader that goes on it. Honestly, I don't think you will go wrong with either tractor. In the event that something WERE to happen... 350 miles is a LONG drive to the dealer.

As much success as I have had with my own Mahindra, I would not have bought it if the nearest Mahindra dealer was 350 miles away. I recommend that you go with a Massey.

I service my 4500 4WD myself. If something major happens to it, I would take it to a local repair shop.
Sorry everybody, but I just don't understand the big concern about having a dealer next door as the primary consideration before making the decision about what tractor to buy.
Amishbob43, buy the 6530, I really don't think you will regret it.

Amishbob43, buy the 6530, I really don't think you will regret it.

I have to agree, my first Mahindra dealer was on the east coast, I live in Southern Calif, have not had any problems that required a dealer. My second Mahindra dealer is in Northern Calif, only 650 miles away, I doubt that I will ever have a need to take it to him either. But then I wouldn't take it to a dealer if he was next door. I prefer to do any and all work-maintenance myself. And as far as warranty work, Mahindra will provide replacement parts, you just sometimes need to send them back if requested.

The only time that I see a need for a good local dealer would be if I was making my living with the tractor. Time is money and I am not the fastest guy when it comes to getting something repaired. Other than that situation, I would get the tractor that I preferred best, but that is just me.

Before writing Mahindra off because of distance, I'd check out hauling cost just to have additional data on which to make your buy decision. That cost might turn out to be less of a problem than it appears. A really good dealer will cut you some slack on hauling cost to generate goodwill.

Last March I bought a new Mahindra 5525 to handle my haying chores. I'm fortunate to have a terrific dealer (Dave's Tractor) less than 20 miles away.

I am the owner of the 6530. I believe that I would get the 7520 if I were to do it over. I am sure that I would. The cost would not be that much difference and you would be way ahead.

If the 7520 too much for you I would get the 6520. Not very much diference at all in price and several features that would make a diffenence.

I am sure of this.

Thanks for the input I really appreciate it alot! When I compare the different models it is tough to figure apples to apples. I Am considering the Mahindra 7520 as it is closer to the Massey 573 I have been looking at. I suppose I'll have to take a road trip soon so I can see the Mahindra up close, I did look at a John Deere 5075e this weekend and although it has similar horsepower and the features were great it is 1400 LBS lighter and a foot narrower than the other 2 the price was competitive but the financing terms were not as good 4.99% for 60 months. The Mahindra and Massey have the same terms.Your input has been greatly appreciated Thank You!!

Arent the 7520 and 6530 pto same HP? Whats the advantage other than the obvious engine HP? Cost is more I debated between the 2 and even the 8560 just couldnt justify the extra $$ the savings allows me to buy some nice attachments for my 6530.

I would go with the dealer that you feel most comfortable with. The one with the best service.

Other than that, I would lean with the Mahindra. I have a 6520 4WD. I regret not getting the 7520. More hp, two speed PTO and most important to me.....6 more gpm on the hydraulic pump.

7520 has 65 PTO horse power, the 6530 has 57 PTO horse power.
7520 has a 12x12 tranny, the 6530 has an 8x8 tranny.
The list goes on and on, the 7520 is simply waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more tractor, it is not just a few more horse power. Take a look at the model specs and you will see that for yourself. Nothing wrong with the 6530, but to think that you would be getting basically the same tractor with a little less horse power is not even close. These are 2 completely different beasts. There is a very good reason that one costs more than the other.

I just bought a 6530 about 2 months ago I run a 7 ft krone mower and I have had some mechanical problems but nothing big I love my tractor I bought a loader with it it's a big help I would truly recommend it
