Here is a posting from Clyde posted 9-28-04. You might want to take a look a the complete thread. It mentions the heating problem.

( I wanted/needed(a considerable use for), a frame mount backhoe versus a 3 pt hookup backhoe. I turned to Woods Equipment out of Oregon, IL to see if they could do something to help me out. They realized long before my inquiry that Mahindra was a leader in the import tractor "race" and they were willing to help me out if I could bring my tractor down to them for an agreed period of time and use my tractor as a template for the 4500 series. They fitted the 9000 backhoe mated to a CAD created mounting attachment. This is an awesome and solid "groundbreaking" backhoe that does not have to take a backseat to anything else on the market. No backhoe can upseat dynamite in rock but this "buster" comes darn close. I've used it, beat it, and it has been awesome. I'm not an employee, investor, or a relative of anyone associcated with Wood's, and get no residuals. If you are serious - look at this one. )

Tim:
I have used my 511 on my 6000 all day long and not had any over heating problem. My dealer told me when I bought it that if I was going to be running it all day long, day-in-and-day-out, I should spend the money for the pto pump. Other wise, try it and see how it works. Like I said, I have done that and it works great. I have done some ditching along a road that was almost all rock, and the backhoe did not miss a beat. You can control the speed of the swing arm side to side, and I have mine turned almost all the way down, or toward slow. It also runs fast enough for me when digging. Where I could use some more speed is in the dumping and resetting for next dig. However, it really is not that big of a deal. If I were making a living doing it, yea, I might think about the pump, other wise, I'll take that 600 beans and put it toward something else.
The thing is, you can always add the pump later if you think you need it. If you never have really run a hoe before, I think you will find that you don't need it.
Regarding the hose change, yes, at least on mine, I have to disconnect the hose at the FEL braket that provides the hyd to the lift arms on the 3pt hitch. It really is no big deal, it takes all of 30 seconds to do. They are quick connect. Disconnect one hose and put it on a dummy connector, remove the hose from the dummy connecter put it where you took the other one off. You also plug two hoses in the rear hyd., one is feed and the other return. I back up to it, connect my hoses, and use the hyd on the hoe to make some fine adjustments in the line up, drop the pins and off you go.
I have the 6000. On mine I have to take the arms off that act as the check chains on the 3pt arms. One pin and one nut on each arm. That takes the longest. Don't know if they have made mod that now eliminates the necessity of doing that. Anyone know?
One more thing. I'm not sure about this, but I think I recall that the 11 gpm is combined with the hyd for the steering. Therefore, you don't actually get all 11gpm for the hoe even thought the specs list 11gpm. Some of that is occupied by the power steering, ... I think. Can someone help here?
But bottom line, it still works great!

Slippy,

I see what you mean about the steering. For the 00 series it just lists that it is hydrostatic. For the 7520 it lists that it is hydrostatic and also that the pump is 5.2 gpm, hence the 7520 has a seperate pump. I wonder though since you aren't steering while operating the backhoe if this would have any effect as no load would be in place for the steering system?

Could anyone with a 511 setup post some close up pictures of how it connects? It would be great to see a comparison between the pto and non pto configurations.

They also make a piggy back tank if you run off the tractor hydraulics, goes between the tractor and backhoe allowing for additional hydraulic capacity to keep the fluid cool, this works well also. But the 511 with that 14gpm pump is still very impressive. It is still impressive with out too, just slower, still has the power. It all depends on what you are use to or expect out of it. Like Slippy said he's not in a rush and is ok with the speed, some people are use to constuction mahines and usually want fast. Either way it a nice hoe.

Well, since I started this thread, I'll continue. The 511 is in. I'll go by tomorrow and see it. It has the 14GPM PTO pump and came with the 24" bucket. 12" is being shipped separately. Frame mount is there as well. I'll try and get a pic or two, but not sure how to upload here (never done it). More later. BobG in VA

One more thing. I think I'm gonna switch the PTO over to 1000 rpm and then run it just above idle (maybe 1150 rpm) and see how the pump works. That should be about PTO speed for a 540 (thanks to the cost of diesel). BobG in VA

We will be real interested to see how it hooks up. I know you will like it.

Just got an email from my dealer. They were able to add the 14gpm pump but they said it would add 900-1000 to the cost. This seems really high so I hope it is a mistake. Or it may be that since my bh was already built they had to modify it and rebuild a part or 2 which may have added to the price. I guess it is money well spent up front but ****, was expecting more around the $600 price. Maybe the new england tractor guys could tell me if that price is reasonable? I like the idea about the 1000 rpm and low idle. I had considered that for other attachments as well. That is what the Iowa Farm Bureau is recommending for field work in the high diesel cost era. Highest gear possible and lowest rpm for the task, smallest tractor necessary for the job. Will keep you guys posted!
