2012 Mahindra 4010 HST with approximately 50hrs

According to the manual, High Gear is for transporting the tractor and that's how I have been trying to use it. So far, it works most of the time (I wish I had time to use it everyday, to find a pattern).

Put the tractor in High, try to go, and the tractors falls on its face. I can ease it, ever-so-slightly, and it will get up to speed only on the down-hill or flat ground, but the speed still doesn't max out. If I do get the tractor going in High and hit any type of incline, the tractor will bog way down and speed will reduce to just faster than if the tractor was in medium range. Raising RPM's or letting off the pedal and easing back on does not make a difference. The problem doesn't appear temperature related due to one day it not working in 90 degree weather and the other not working in constant rain and 65 degree weather. I'm not sure if the issue is hitting all the gears because the low and medium don't cruise fast enough for a noticeable difference.

I replaced all the fluids and filters as instructed by the manual and there was no change.

The problem is sporadic and not completely consistent...yet. I have asked the dealer and they keep saying they will call the local rep and ask, but I haven't heard a response in two weeks, with two calls made. I haven't wanted to leave it at the dealer because they have been dishonest about a couple little things. The next closest is approximately 1.5hrs away.

Any Ideas?

Make sure you are getting good fuel flow to the engine and air filter is clean. It might have 2 air filters.

Check to make sure that you don't have a hydraulic remote that is locked in a operating position and robbing power. I have seen customers with that proglem.

you aren't' using the HST as a 'gas pedal' are you. Many people seem to instinctively think that when they encounter a 'load', they need to push the pedal down more, when it's actually the reverse you need to do.

The forward/reverse pedal(s) are actually the transmission controls..the harder you push, the higher gear you go to.

When you encounter a hill or a load of any kind, back off on the pedal a bit and throttle up, the same as you would do if you were driving a 'stick shift' car.

Sorry if I'm telling you something you already know, but it seems many people don't know this, as I see it mentioned a lot in this forum.

Good luck with your problem.

As I said in my post " Raising RPM's or letting off the pedal and easing back on does not make a difference. "

Are you referencing having the PTO's on? If so, then no, they are not on. None of the "extras" are showing on (unless there "on" when the stick says "off"... with Mahindra I wouldn't be surprised).

That doesn't make sense to me because the RPM's appear fine in the other gears. It'll rev right up to full RPM's, and stay there, as long as it's not in "high". If you really think it will help, I'll consider it.

It's been three weeks with no reply from the dealer (and yes, I called them again).

Apparently the brakes were riding and the dealer just found out it's a known problem. The brake mechanism is a not able to be greased where it is hanging up. The tractor has been in the shop for over a week. I hope the brake pads didn't suffer damage... I'll post some pictures when I the dealer points out where it's having the problem.
