Comparison Mahindra 3550 vs Kubota MX5800

I've been researching tractors for weeks and I think I've narrowed my selection to these 2 tractors. The Mahindra 3550 and the Kubota MX5800, both HST 4WD.

I'm having a tough time deciding between these. I like them both...

Someone give me some feedback please.

What are you going to be using it for? The Mahindra is a lot heavier machine. That can be both good or bad, depends on what your uses will be.

I have about 35 acres of trees, creeks, and mud. I'll be using it initially to clear about 10 acres of 4" and smaller trees to make some pasture. General land, tree, and creek maintenance will be it's most use.

There's likely cows in our future as well.

Exceptions to every rule, of course. If you can limit work to dry conditions, heavy does offer more pulling traction. But heavy tractor + mud can result in deeper ruts, more mess and getting stuck deeper. Either tractor is big enough to play with small trees.

Clearing 10 acres of heavy brush, much less 4" trees is going to seriously test a farm tractor...like breaking stuff test. Creating pasture calls for a decent sized dozer, not a tractor, and not even a little dozer like mine.

i'll agree, Hire 2 -3 days with a dozer to make a mess to just knock everything down will make your tractor last a lot longer, as it only has cleanup work. Get a grapple.

Having my MX for three years now, I am still amazed at the work I can accomplish with this machine. We are in the Blue Ridge Mountains, up and down terrain, lots of woods to maneuver through, and I couldn't be happier with this tractor. I loaded the tires, added wheel weights, and it feels like a tank, but so maneuverable. Tons of power and a very quick response fel make a work day all fun. Get a grapple for sure, and a good box blade will be your best friend.

I can speak from experience that the MX is capable of reclaiming pasture (and the Mahindra likely is too). But only if you just want to DIY. Renting bigger equipment will be WAY more efficient. Personally, I love doing the work.

I don't think we can tell from the OP's comments, but reclaiming pasture can be significantly different from clearing a new area to make a pasture in some cases. It all just depends on the specifics of his situation. I've got a few areas I thought I was going to clear with the dozer and now I'm not so sure....might need something a couple sizes bigger
