I'd take what you can get. I can tell you if they do charge you for the residental they will do it on eBay or their website, regardless. I remember in the fine print on the website the free was only to a commercial address with dock (or like me where I could snatch it off with my tractor).

I'm tempted to call tomorrow and see if they will combine shipping and sell me a stump bucket.. stump bucket would be sweet.

I mocked up my toolbox mount today. Drilled some holes, still need to paint the mount. Not having any storage is driving me nuts.

I bought a hydraulic hose at the local hardware store earlier today to help me figure out the correct lengths I'll need to go between my two valves. Also got a block of steel for the standoff.

Everything is in pieces but i can see the light at the end of the tunnel..

Well I can't find the manual for the factory FEL valve. There are two hoses on top, one on the bottom. One of the ones on top is labeled "T", i'm assuming this is tank. The bottom is labeled "P". I'm not sure if P would be pressure into the valve from the pump or power out to the 3pt hitch.

Here are the three lines that I need to identify. One of these should be output from the hyd pump, one should be tank return, and one should be power to the 3pt hitch.



The one that goes to the rear of the tractor attaches at the back.



If you guys can just bear with me, I'll put all this information regarding the third function in its own thread. There is a ridiculous amount of knowledge regarding this mod on this forum but I'm yet to see a complete walk-through that connects all the dots and doesn't leave room for misinterpretation.

So I just drained the trans oil. Does this thing not have a filter?? It is unbelievable how much stuff is suspended in the oil fluid. I kept filling maybe 1.5gal container and dumping it into a larger bucket. Every time i could see the color difference between the fluid at the top and the fluid at the bottom of the small container. The drain plug looked like an over-fertilized chia pet.

IDK, i just didn't expect the fluid to actually have seemingly suspended media in it.

The line going to the back is ware a set of remotes would hookup. And yes you do have a hyd filter.

Fluid color difference could actually be from the 3qt of 80w oil I put in there..

Any tips on how to get most of the old hyd fluid out? I put the plug back in partly to keep contaminants out but plan to let whatever settles to the bottom drain out tomorrow.

In other news I sent MTL a message about adding a stump bucket to the order. I got the cheaper ebay price with no additional shipping charges. I don't really have a specific use for it but i'm eager to play around with it.

Ew... thats a pretty gross accumulation of metal on the drain plug there. Some here might call that "normal" for a new tractor, but it sure doesn't make you feel good. You have the machine and the owners manual.... is there a hydraulic filter? Surely there must be. Might as well cut that open when you change it out and see whats inside.

The key is to see whats in your hydraulic oil next time you change it. Hopefully almost nothing.

So I went to look up the hydraulic filter part number since it isn't in the operators manual.



Sigh.

I didnt mention that the tractor has a broken tail light assembly. Noticed it a couple days after I had the tractor. You can lift up on the outside corner and see all the broken connection points.

Unit had 9 hours on it when I bought it. Didnt realize it until after I had purchased. Im assuming it was loaned out. May explain the abuse the transmission may have seen.

So is the hydraulic filter part of the 50hr service? I don't see it on the maintenance schedule. Also, where is the hyd filter?

If that is the case, no wonder the fluid looked terrible and like it hadn't seen a decent filter. Now I'm beginning to wonder if I should make a dialysis setup to filter it further.. LOL

I will seriously make an inline filter if there isn't anything better than that screen. That seems ridiculous. I hope I'm misunderstanding something.

So it appears there is no transmission filter, just a pickup screen. Unless I'm missing something. I called the dealership about its location, the mechanic wasn't sure off the top of his head, he had a subordinate call me back earlier this evening. He said it was under the left floor panel. I found it and went to pull it out..



Of course you have to remove this front end loader arm thing to get it out. I removed the FEL arm thing and plan to spray it down with brake cleaner before putting it back on.



Doesnt look terrible on the inside.

that screen does require some other things to be removed before you can just pull it out, my brother is a mechanic and we had an interesting time doing all the filters and fluids the first time. I had a little bit of stuff on mine when I pulled the plug as well not as much but still some metal. I have changed the motor oil twice and still get some build up. I have been told the reason for the first 50 hour fluid and filter change is to get all these machine shavings out of the machine. The manufacturers don't spend a lot of time cleaning the machined parts like they used to and the first set of maintenance changes are to help remove these impurities and pieces.

I went to NAPA to have my hyd hoses made. Took forever to explain to the guy what I needed. I should have made a sketch. He goes to make the hoses and doesnt have enough fittings.. Going to try another nearby NAPA this evening.

I was talking about the seemingly screen only filter on the hyd/trans system with a gearhead buddy of mine. I messaged WIX and described what I was looking for and they sent me a list of some transmission filters that would work. Up to 40gpm. I may pick one up on my next rockauto order if they aren't outrageously expensive. Would be cool to plug into third function and filter all the fluid.. likely unnecesary but would be neat if I have the fittings/adapters lying around.

Manual says the transmission case holds 9.25gal. I ordered 12.5. One container of 2.5gal was lost in shipment somehow so I ended up with only 10 gallons of fluid. I went to order more off amazon and the price has gone up $20 per 2.5gal container. Sigh.

Anyway, adding the 10 gallons didn't even come up to the sight glass. I'm not sure how that would be the case before the tractor had been started and the hyd pump had been run.

So if there any reason the loader being installed would affect the level of the fluid when it was first being filled? My thought is that filling the transmission with oil would be the same as if no loader was installed up until the tractor was run and fluid was run into those lines that may have drained empty.

If not, then I'm guessing that the manual is incorrect with its 9.25gal specification. Mildly infuriating. No, just straight up infuriating..

Figured I should add this in as well - I hadn't paid much attention to the fluid levels and such since I picked up the tractor, I was waiting on the 50hr service to go through all that stuff the first time. I'm looking at everything over the weekend and find that the coolant is way low. I would bet any amount of $ that it came from the dealership this way and did not lose that much fluid in the last couple weeks..



I went ahead and changed the oil as well. Went with WIX filter, I try to use them exclusively, and Schaeffer full synthetic diesel oil. The magnets on the drain looked great. Plenty of fuzz, one tiny sliver of metal but absolutely normal IMO.

When I was putting the old hyd oil from the transmission into smaller containers for easier disposal I was watching all the suspended metal shavings in the last bit of the fluid. I keep thinking about ways to expand the filtering ability, it can't be good for anything in that system to have that stuff just floating around. Based on my research, I was better to go with a non-HST unit in the long-run since there would be less wearing parts sharing fluid. This must have been a misunderstanding on my part or a false assumption?

Lastly, my grandfather-in-law has run a CASE dealership since the 70's. Shop just closed down in the past year. I was talking to him and he said that most hyd systems shared with the transmission have a separate hyd filter. Can anyone here elaborate why this one doesn't (other than the screen)?

Youre right - - Loader would have no effect on oil change level until the loader is operated afterward.

Are you absolutely sure the level is not above the window, eliminating contrast?

What does the dipstick indicate ?​

I cant imagine Mahindra not using a real filter for the UTF. Ask the Tech Rep assigned to your dealer.

Your coolant shows almost perfect for a cold level. ... About 4oz low maybe. It should be about an inch above the bottom line. - - Check all the hose clamps.

I agree about Amazon. I got on a chat with them earlier this morning and they agreed to honor the original price for a replacement. I was really agitated about the whole thing since I based my decision on using that fluid on the current amazon price. The price actually went up from $67 to over $90. Insane. I looked around and found that I can get the fluid direct from Schaeffer with free shipping for the same ($67) price.

I'm 95% certain about the hyd fluid level. I was watching the sight glass as I filled and even got my face a couple inches from the sight glass, squinting, trying to ensure I wasn't seeing through the fluid. I'll double-check this evening to be sure, though. I'll post back if I'm wrong.

Sediment from the bottom may not circulate to be caught, but is flushed during drain. Also some glints are smaller than you think and will pass thru a normal 25 micron paper filter. Flow ability usually precludes finer filtration on the suction side.
