Mahindra 2525 Clutch Adjustment

   / Mahindra 2525 Clutch Adjustment #11
The tractor is together. Was gonna make adjustments through the inspection plate on bell housing if I could figure out what to do. The adjustment bolt I circled in red are the ones I'm thinking needs attention.
Hello, Im in the same situation with the same exact tractor. What ever came of this and is it working properly now? I've had this thing apart and back together 3x now. I feel im close but it is still not working properly. any info will be helpful.

So what exactly is "the same situation"? As you can see the outcome was never divulged, as is often the case here.

Harry, Thank you for the reply. I replaced pilot, throw out bearing, and the 2 clutch plates for the 2525. It is currently back together but the clutch will not disengage. if im in turtle 1 forward, when I push the clutch it stays in turtle 1 forward, nothing changes. I've never done a 2 stage clutch before, but I think its adjustments I've got wrong.

Joe

You replaced "the two clutch plates". So you removed the clutch assembly, took it all apart, replaced the discs, then put it all back together? After assembling the tractor did you adjust the clutch pedal free play? How much free travel do you have?

yes, removed everything and put back together. id say the pedal free play is 3/4'' to an inch''

When you first rolled it back together how much free play was there? As clutches wear over time free play needs to be increased to compensate. When a new clutch is installed that distance will be too great and need to be shortened up. In most cases anyway. Depending on the design of the clutch and pedal linkage it will vary a little from tractor to tractor but that's how it usually works.

Next question. How does the PTO portion of the clutch work now?

PTO works like it should besides when the PTO lever is in Neutral(off), the PTO shaft still spins slowly and can be stopped via hand. I know that's dangerous but we do it very carefully.

"PTO works like it should". Just what does that mean? If you actually tested it or are you just guessing it works? As for the transmission portion, you can adjust to reduce free play to near nothing and test it again, If it still won't stop the shafts turning with pedal fully depressed (actually the transmission clutch SHOULD stop with pedal at half way down) then something is wrong inside and you will need to open it up and look at things again.

Ok, thank you. When I engage the PTO lever the PTO spins like normal. The only issue right now with the PTO is when it is not engaged it spins very slow and without any force and can be stoped with my hand very easily.
