Hey All,
(caution this post contains rambling of a new tractor owner:laughing
Well all this talk about tractors on TBN led me down the road to owning a tractor. Relative tractor newbie with 13 acres in Southern New Hampshire. With 1000' of driveway to plow and maintain, lots of logging cleanup, rock movement, retaining walls to be built, and a small orchard in the future, the tractor will be welcome.
Started on Kubota but the very popular local dealer basically was offering list price, he sells lots so I guess he gets his $$. (Consulted Barlow's and was impressed)
Started reading about Kioti on TBN and quickly was converted due to the FEL capabilities. Decided that the DK40 was right for me. Got some really varying quotes $21500-26,500. If you are in this area I suggest dropping Mike at Profilemotorsports a call, he had a very attractive price:thumbsup: Additionally give Wallace a shout if you can deal with a white tractor:laughing:
Anyway, found a good deal (I Think anyway) on a used DK40 SE HST with 180 hours, loaded rears, two bucket hooks, cutting blade on bucket, delivered for 16,500. Bought it off of a used tractor dealer in the area. With my skeptical mind racing-a tractor on Craigslist, sold by a used tractor outfit named Honest E's tractor....hmmmm I was highly suspicious.
Test drove it:thumbsup:But how do I allay the fear of buying used. RoyJackson gave some good advice. So I got the previous owner's number (googled his number to make sure it was legit-bit suspicious still). The previous owner confirms all that EJ said was true. He bought a new DK 40 with a cab, and raved about his former tractor. Almost sold...Next it was a phone call to the original dealer to confirm 50 hour service and the rest of the details. They all checked out. Bought it ten minutes later. Delivered the next day.
As I said, I am a relative newbie and will continue to scour TBN for information. Need to get a blade for the back and hit the driveway.
