Tractor
Kubota L3130
When down to local dealer and made the deal on a new L3130 dt-f today. Also got the 723 loader with the heavy duty bucket with QA. $17,900. They did not have the bucket in stock so it will be next week before I pick it up. Now I have to find me a good trailer to go with it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Congrats on your new tractor. I'm sure you will like the Grand L with the LA723. There are some users on TBN that have the L3130 with the LA723 and they seem to be pleased with this combination.

Welcome to TBN.

I have a 3130 FST with the 723 also, the loader upgrade is a wise choice!, it gives you sooo much more capacity... I have had mine for about a month now and its great...

Welcome to TBN, nice first post. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Congrats on the new machine, you're going to love what a Grand L can do for you. Is this your first tractor? I'm not sure what, if anything, you're going to be able to compare your 3130 to, but be prepared to be impressed with how much you can lift with that 723 loader!

Speaking of which, there have been MANY threads here on ballasting for loader work, I could dig up a few links if you'd like. Also, since you mentioned a trailer, I'm wondering if you're going to be using your machine for business? Either way (business or personal), I'd love to hear what you'll be using your tractor for.

On trailers: I trailer my Grand L, and a 4 1/2 ton, 18-footer does the trick nicely with the loader and a good-sized rear attachment.

Anyway, congrats again on a fine tractor,

John

Thanks everyone for the welcome! It will be the weekend before I get the tractor. Dealer (Central Carolina Power Equipment- great guys!) had to send a truck to S.C. to get the heavy bucket (L-2240).
I have 6 ac. that we will be building a house on this spring and will use it for road work and landscape improvement. I am also getting started in bee keeping and will us it to move hives to fields for pollination.
I am going to look at a 16ft beavertail trailer tommarrow- 2 axle, 7000lb with ramps. Will be looking around at bush-hogs and box blades also. Trying to line out the insurance on the tractor now.
I have only driven 1 tractor about 25 yrs ago, but have driven fork lifts, dump trucks... The new tractors are much nicer /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You will love the tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

One thing about the 16' beavertail with 7000# GVWR.

First the 16' will be ok for tractor and loader. I have a L3130 and loader and same trailer as you are looking at. If I put a box blade on the tractor with the FEL I need a minimum of 18'. And forget hauling the loader and bushhog.

Second the 7000# GVWR, with the 3130, loaded tires, FEL, you are pushing the overloaded mark. If you go over 10,000 # GVWR you need class A license. You may want to look at least 18' (longer if you plan on hauling the FEL and bushhog) and 9000# +/- GVWR.

If you drop the loader when you haul the hog and boxblade you will be ok.

Just food for thought.

congrats on the new tractor and welcome to TBN. As for insurance I don't know if you have looked at the Kubota insurance, that is what I ended up going with after checking on my own company and a couple others...good luck...

Just a reminder to check with your home owners insurance. Mine picked my tractor up for ~$2/month. I'll have all the details on it at the end of the week.

Just wanted to echo what hunterridge said about the 16' trailer. You might be just barely OK on the weight (even with a box blade or bush hog), but I think you're going to be too tight on the length. Keep in mind that it's nice to have some room to play with so you can get your tongue weight just right, and don't have to worry about having your bucket crunch your tow vehicle on a tight turn.

Again, I'd hold out for an 18-ft. 9,000 lb. (4 1/2 ton) trailer. I paid $2,000 for mine in excellent condition.

Judging by the uses you have in mind, you're really going to be loving that machine, and yep, tractors sure are nice these days aren't they?

Have fun, John

HI,

I have an L3410 with loader. If you will haul it around, you need an 18' trailer minimum. When I have the Woods Brush Bull 600 on the tractor the rear wheel is off the back of the trailer by a foot or so.

You don't need a CLD for anything 10,000 pounds and under. So, be smart and get a 5 ton trailer. Mine weighs in at 2400-2500 pounds, so the max haul is 7500-7600 pounds. Oh DO NOT get a trailer with the fold up ramps. Get one with ramps that slide under the deck. You gain a lot in flexibility if you ever have a length that is just a tad too long.

Here is my weight calculation

kubota L3410 HST
Trailer 2500
Tractor 2800
Tire Fill 900
Loader 800
Bucket 350
Backhoe 0
Bucket 0
Diesel 9 gal 72
Oil 10 gal 80
Cutter 1200
chains/binders 45
tire chains 325
Total 9072

Slack 928

You can see that a 9000 # trailer would be overloaded. IF you ever get a BH, you would be way over and couldn't transport. Just some thoughts.

Hi folks,

Again thanks for all the info. I did go with th 16ft trailer- picked it up on weds. $1400 total, ramps slide in from side. My tow truck has a max of 7200lbs so can't go higher. Also don't plan to carry all tings at same time anyway ( know it will happen now that I said that /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif) Mainly will use to take in for survice and pick up building supplies.

On side note got a Quote on a Woods SQ 720 Rotary cutter for 1385.00 Sound about right?

Hmmm, that's like asking about a Ford Corvette!

Did you mean a Bush Hog Squealer 720, or a Woods Brush Bull 720?

That price is pretty good for the SQ unit by the way...

Enjoy your new tractor!

Ok the brain is full /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif . I have been looking at too many brands.

It is the Squealer 720.

Thanks for the reply.

I need to look at the invoice to tell you for sure, but it was for the life of the loan, I financed for 4 years, and it was like 600.00 or close to it, Ill try and pull the invoice and find out for sure...

Congrats on the new tractor! Concerning the trailer,I would not even consider a 7000# model. I have a L3010 with R4 loaded tires. The tractor, loader, backhoe combo weigh in at 6500#. My trailer is 18' rated at 9,999#gvw.I would not consider anything less. Its always better to have more trailer, than less.

Insurance for l3130, FEL, and SQ720 is $168. a year. Insurance on trailer added to auto policy was $25 year.
Because the land is not my home address I could not add to home owner policy. Because the tractor will be towed- had to have insurance on trailer.
