I didn't read much of this thread, but when shopping now I don't even expect to find anything made in the USA, just try and find not made in India, Singapore etc. kinda the lesser of 2 evils.
Someone mentioned Timberland boots, I've bought them faithfully (waterproof work boots) for 25 years, they are crap now and should be made somewhere else IMO, and I'm talking about the top of the line stuff. They last me just a few months before my feet start hurting due to poor support.
Jeans, don't even get me going on that issue. First they stopped making the 35 inch waist that I need if I don't want to look like a vagabond in 36's or a disco dancer in 34's.
Levis now has a 35 again but they are absolute garbage.

pretty sure the WESTERN jeans are. i know that they have some plants in the US

Ridge, Miller is still "made" here. As stated earlier in the thread, I don't care who owns the company, as long as the product is US built....er ah brewed...

JB4310, don't get me going on Levi's...I wore them for 40+ years. Now that they outsourced, the fit has completly changed, and the quality is just gone. I won't be buying anymore Levis...an American icon ruined by greed. I will be writing them a letter. It won't do any good, but it will make me feel better.

I wonder how much is saved by shipping U.S. manufactured material to another country to be made. must be enough for them to do it, how much profit is in a pair of britches?

My wifes Dad worked in the iron mines and told me people could buy finished iron/steel cheaper from China than they could digging the ore out of the ground shipping it to the mill here in the USA.
Good question.
Although depending on where at in Mexico freight could be rather minuscule.
You see this a lot on clothing where it is foreign made with US fabric. I assume it is because cotton is only grown in certain regions of the world.

I was reading on Petersons website. Interesting company, profit sharing with employees, they make lenses and reflectors for Harley Davidson, JD, Cat. Based in Missour-a. They have been in business since 1945.....I like!
