Made in the USA

I bought tires for my cattle trailer today. Needed four 235/85R16 tires and had my pick of Chinese, Korean and Made in USA. Ended up with BFGoodrich Commercial TA, made in USA. Nicely made tires, deep tread. Michelin owns BFGoodrich but that's fine with me. Bought four Michelins for my Expedition last month and they were made in the USA. I did have to buy two Chinese tires for my heavy utility trailer that uses mobile home tires. Didn't have any choice in that size tire.

And UniRoyal.

Yep. Bought eight Uniroyal Laredo tires for my gooseneck flatbed a few years ago. The Chinese-made original tires started throwing the tread off after only three years.

Oh, I forgot and I own a few:

Ruger Firearms

Now, since Bill Ruger died I am assuming they are still made here.

Great post it sucks that everything you try to buy is made in china. I own ALOT of Milwaukee tools. I always bought them because they were built great and lasted. The primary reason was they were made in the USA!

But the last drill I bought I got it home and started looking it said made in CHINA on it.

I was so mad I called Milwaukee tool to complain about it. They said it is still made to there spec and quality. I told them it does not matter it was still CHINA junk.

Then they tried to tell me to stay completive they outsource to china. I told them it didn't matter the cost. I always bought there tools because they were made in the USA and were worth the cost.

They still make some tools in the US but for how much longer.

About timberland boots I always buy the same pair for the last five years. They are great boots made in the USA. I am an electrician and on my feet all day on ladders and concrete. Before I found these boot I would come home with my feet hurting, not since I started wearing these boots.

I also noticed some companies have on package on the self that is made in the USA the second one might be made in CHINA. I wonder what the deal is with that. Or the say USA company but when you read the back in small writing made in china. Just another way to trick the consumer into buying there product.

Winchester ammo still made in USA. The guns are now made in Belgium, and other foreign country's.:(

Consumers should be able to choose the best products at the lowest price.

Living standards rise when the cost of living declines.

Politicians and most Western economists suggest China's practice of pegging its currency to the dollar is making their exports cheaper than they would otherwise be. That if China's currency were allowed to float against international currencies, the dollar would likely be worth relatively less, making US export prices more competitive, stimulating demand for US labor rather than Chinese labor.

Of course if over the past few decades, as a country and as individuals we didn't consume as much relative to what we produced and earned, we might not be as dependent on debt financing, energy, goods and services ...from overseas.

Hopefully things will re-balance in time.

I work for a company who assembles products here in New York but we are truely a global company when it comes to the products we get to make these things. So I could say it's made here in the USA becuase it is. But the materials are from everywhere.

Being in Quality Control I can say some things not made in China are just as bad as if they came from China. I think if they have a good quality control system then it can be made anywhere.

The world is not so big anymore. We can't expect "made in the USA" to mean that it's purest sense anymore.
