M59 Quick Coupler Question

I'm looking to change my quick couplers to flat face just in case I need rental equipment for something.

I also want to change my backhoe thumb to a quick coupler so I can use my auger on the backhoe.

Questions:

1. For the FEL coupler and backhoe coupler -- are they the same size? What size?
2. Summit Hydraulics on Amazon -- Any issues or other brand suggestions?
3. Anything else I should be aware of when converting to flat face?

1. Yes they can be the same, measure your threads on your machine.
2. Buy local is my recommendation, up to you how you spend your money
3. Buy enough fittings for your attachments. Don't use teflon tape.

I run flat face connectors on my M59. Front two 3rd function and two for backhoe are 1/2”. One 3/8” on backhoe, three lines. Note, the backhoe female threads on the tractor are British tapered pipe threads…very close to SAE. I don’t know if the male to male nipple going from the tractor to the OEM QDs thread pitch are? You will need British to SAE nipple for your flat face QDs. The lines on the backhoe were SAE male taper.

My M59 was a rare landscaping model without a backhoe or backhoe QDs. Bought a used backhoe and changed all to flat face.

Probably the lines to the thumb are SAE. Fooling with Kubotas for many years have seen a mix of British and SAE threads on the same tractor.

Run flat face on B26 FEL so they can share equipment.

Agree don’t use tape but a high quality hydraulic paste sealant on the threads. I like taking parts, used and new to my local hydraulics shop and let them help me get the right parts. The difference between British and some SAE threads is so slight.
