What do you guys think about the kubota m5140? I really think it is big enough to do what I need. I have around twenty acres that I cut and plenty of fel work to do. What size cutter can it pull?

The M5140 is a very capable tractor, a full description of your needs might help make a more relevant evaluation. I have used a L5030 HSTC and now use a L5740 to do FEL and bush hogging on quite a bit of land. I use a Land Pride RCR2672 rotary cutter and Land Pride HR3584 box scraper and it is a less robust tractor I beieve.

foreman Etexas had a M5040, the precursor to the M5140, so you might check some of his threads, he just traded it on another M7040, but had good things to say about his old tractor.

It depends upon what you are cutting. If it is rough and you require a heavy duty rotary cutter, then no. It is grass and you only require a light duty cutter, then yes. If quality of cut is important a 7' cutter most likely will not work unless you can find a dual spindle model. I use a 6' medium duty cutter behind my MX5100 and it is all it wants for the heavy cutting in brush, on hills, and rough terrain. On level, smooth terrain, with light cutting a larger cutter would work fine.

I was originally looking at a mahindra 5530 4x4 w/fel. But I have a kubota dealer 3 miles from my home, so I'm leaning toward them. Price is a factor also. A lot of seat time will be cutting, but have a lot of cleaning to do also. I believe there is a $5000 price difference between the two.

I used my medium duty 6' Land Pride on my L5030 HST cutting thick grass and heavy brush 3" and occasionally bigger though not on purpose. My L5740 manual says it will handle a 7'.

I have a m5040hdc. mfwd. I was moving snow yesterday and I can tell you it has power to spare. A lot of tractor for the money. I am thinking of selling if you are interested.
