Lynx snowblower anyone else own one?

Gap is 1/8 at the the most I use to do the rubber flaps to walk behind blowers. I'm thinking it just might be the blower design

It is not the design, you need the impeller kit for your PUMA as you have a wide gap there. I would use some fluid film until you have the time to add the rubber impeller paddles and the sheet metal plates to hold the rubber in place.

So I'm thinking the only way I'm going to get the distance I'm looking for is the buy a new blower. So anyone have any recommendations for a 70 or 72 inch blower that really throws snow far?

If you decide to go that route I have a WoodMaxx SB-84 and am very happy with it. They have a 72" as well and their pricing is VERY reasonable. The 72" also has a 24" fan and a recommended HP range of 25-65 PTO HP. Here's a link.

By limiting the amount of open area that the impeller uses to take in the snow it reduces the amount of snow that is pushed back out into the cross auger housing while clearing snow.

if the snow caster is not running flat out and the engine is not running at the PTO engine speed you never have enough torque to cast it as far as it is mechanically possible.

If you can install a speed increaser on your puma it will help you as long as the PTO engine speed if high and you travel slowly to allow the impeller to clear the snow at a high speed of rotation.

If you can purchase an aerosol can of Fluid Film to spray on the chute as you work it will help a lot.

If you take half cuts that will also help you clear snow as the impeller is only going to have to work half as hard OR you can simply elevate the PUMA and make two passes shaving off a layer at a time.

Anyone have the speed accelerator that provonost has as an option for their 64 and 72 blowers?

Hello Bbc396,

Please check the pronovost web page to check what the minimum PTO horsepower is that you need to run the accelerator.

45 hp is what it says

Hello Bbc396,

Please check the pronovost web page to check what the minimum PTO horsepower is that you need to run the accelerator.

It lists 45 HP for the speed accelerator. It's not clear if that is the required HP or the maximum HP rating of the unit. I suspect that it is the max HP rating of the unit, since the Puma 64 and Puma 72 for which the accelerator is offered as an option list HP ratings for the blower as 18-30 HP and 20-35 HP respectively. Why would they require more HP than the blowers are rated to handle? I've sent Provnost an email asking for clarification. I'll post what I hear back from them.

It may be a moot point for the OP, since the accelerator is not offered for the Lynx series of blowers. Perhaps it could be adapted to fit?

I heard back from Provnost. The HP listed for their accelerator is the maximum HP for which the accelerator is rated, not the minimum you need to run it. This would make sense, since the HP listed on the accelerator is higher than the rating for the snowblowers it fits.

It will use a little more HP from your tractor: spinning that fan at a higher speed and throwing snow further takes more power. So if you are already maxing out your tractor when blowing, it may not be the best choice for you (slowing your speed over the ground would help in this case).

I did not ask if it can be fit to a Lynx blower. It's not listed as an option for them.
