LX 188

Hello all . I've had a lX 186 for years great mower and now I just got a lX 188. I cut grass 3 times but last time I mowed it started bogging down but ran better with pto off. then it died. fuel pump is working carb has gas. Put new plugs in .j just cranks , it will run on starter fluid tell it burns it out any clues what the problem is

Welcome to TBN. It would be a good thing to know that the little solenoid @ the carburetor bowl is working and the fuel is clean happy gasoline rather than having water or diesel in it.

Was mowing when it died has good gas seames 2 be flooding over flow on top of carb driping gas

These mechanical fuel pumps can move a fair amount of fuel. So should the carb be letting fuel through, it doesn't take long to flood it out. Of course, the pump can have issues as well. Any fuel in the oil?

Is the lX 188 new or just new to you ?

From your description, it sounds like you may have dirt in the float needle or a stuck float.
