LS vs. Mahindra

/ LS vs. Mahindra #41
I have a dealer about 30 miles away and will just buy from him when I need them. So far I have had but 2 weeks in which to use it which was right after I got it in Oct. Been out of the country till Christmas and used it just a little moving some tree piles and driving some fence post. I may have put .5 hours on the engine since most of my work was just above idle, the hours work of the tach so they dont add up very fast. I still havent got to but about half way to the 50 hour break in point.

I like where they put the hydraulic loader control = more room for access.
Headlights/Hood are different and you get a neat shift knob.
Very nice:thumbsup:
What part of the country do you live in?

Gary,
My closest LS dealer is 60 miles. I've no problem with that - I'm more concerned that LS will be in the states for next 20 years.

I see you've got a 4220, I am looking at the Yanmar's, as well.

Dirt Pile:

Looks like a lot of tractor for $17.1K! (Did I read you right?) The only on I see online is in Maine. Not much info on it, so far. Please tell me what is the weight? Displacement? 41 Hp?

Thanks,
Alan

Great conversation...I'm new to the forum and looking strongly at LS, definitly the most features for the money. I've heard rumors of several new LS models coming out but haven't seen any until Dirt Pile came up with his. Does anyone else have any info on these new models?

/ LS vs. Mahindra #47
Yeah I got the same thing from my dealer.
I can sell you a i3040 but the new model will be a R3039.

WHAT

Don't we have enough model numbers??

And when will LS update the site with new models??

I'm in Central California, the weight is@3570 lbs and 2505 cc. Yes $17,100.... I thought it was a decent price, after looking at all the other models and trying to compare, seemed to me like everyones been saying...more bang for your buck. The shift lever has a push button, no clutching needed, same with the for-rev just flick the lever on the steering column, no clutching.

Sorry , yes 40 hp. I took a few pics of some BIG rigs, I'll share...the row of green is from an auction yard held the Friday after the show, the rest are from the Expo. Talk about a kid in a candy store...

Dirt Pile:

Thanks for info. 2505 cc = 152.9 C. inch.

Can someone help me with this? The LS website LS Tractor USA

specifies the R-4010 as 152.9 cu. inch @ 41/35 Hp (has a S4QL-D Mitsubishi).
and
specifies the R-4020 as 152.9 cu. inch @ 47/41 Hp (it has a S4QL Mitsubishi).

My question (take it easy. remember, I run a '57 Ford 600) is: what's up with the "D"? And, do you agree with these Hp numbers, is it really 6 Hp difference??

Alan

Hear that! Alphabet soup!

I need to buy one just to give my brain a break. Then I can stop trying to remember random numbers.

You can check the specs on any brand you want and several models will use the same frame size and same motor (likely same everything since the weight is almost identical to all of them) and just tune the motor for extra HP. The same engine is used on the P7010,7020 and 7030 or Plus 70,80 90 if you use the new numbers. My 7010 is naturally aspirated, they add a turbo on the 7020 to get 10 more HP and then on the 7030 in addition to the turbo they add an intercooler and maybe turn up the injection pump a little. It is the same engine, same tractor, with just a few tweaks. Massey Ferguson does the same with their 1642, 48 and 52 model 1600 series. Very little weight difference on any of the models either so one can assume that they are the same tractor which is why they can sell them for not much difference in price. I am sure I could turbocharge mine and add the intercooler and have a 90 Hp tractor with no problem if I needed more power.
I am sure that if you checked the other models there will be several models that share the same engine model just like the P 70xx series.

I am in the market to replace my old Deere 970 with FEL, I was looking at the TYM T503 Cab and the LS U5020C on the net. Has anyone had any experiance with these models and what kind of pricing would be considered good price, I am in east Mideast cost and there are fewer and fewer tractor dealers here any more.

What about the whole Farmtrac and LS thing? Wasent LS the manufacturer for Farmtrac tractors and did not want to stand behind sold units or thier dealers? Forgive me if im wrong this is what i was thinking happened, i have only read a little on the farm trac thread after they closed up shop.

Farmtrac North America went into receivership/bankruptcy in 08. That was an issue with the Farmtrac company mismanagement - not LS!
Then North Carolina based Farmtrac North America was sold to Montana Tractors for $14.1 million. Farmtrac shut down operations in January of 2008, laying off 180 employees. The company entered receivership in March with more than $50 million in debt, much of it owed to Textron Financial.
Montana outbid LS Mtron on the deal.
Also not all farmtrac's were built by LS

Couple of nice features on th R4041EZ, the hinged front brush guard, easy air cleaner access and battery. The bucket disconnects and the fel can attach to optional skid steer type of implements right in front. No extra hydraulic ports though, that would have to be plumbed. I also liked the fel hinged assembly for easy-er removal, and the sturdiness of it, I thought it was the better design, by that I mean sturdy, and mounted under the frame to the rear, metal plates used were thick gauge etc.
