Got a pleasant surprise today,the dealer called and asked if he could deliver my G3033 today instead of tomorrow,I was like a kid all day long waiting to get home from work.At 5:30 in comes the rollback with my tractor,loader,backhoe,6' finish mower,and snowplow.The bad......it gets dark by 7 could not play as much as I wanted,can't see real well with the lights with FEL attached.Well there's always tomorrow:D
Hi dodger, How do you like the Shuttle on the LS G3033? So far how what is your opinion of the tractor? I am in the market for a new tractor and the LS G3033 so far is my choice and thankfully my wife's choice as well. I have been waffling between gear or HST? I have no gear tractor driving experience except for a 1 hour demo at Lane Tractor in Los Molinos, Ca. I am not well coordinated and I am not good at multiply tasking. I have seen a lot of gear tractors for sale with 200 to 300 hrs. that have had clutches replaced. I would hate to join the burned clutch club, especially since they are not covered under warranty. I have only one serious issue with the LS 3033 and that is that little tiny digital tach. What is your thought on the tach.?

The only problem I have with the shuttle shift is getting used to it's location.I had a International 3514 with a shuttle shift and it was located by my left leg,so sometimes I change range instead of direction:eek:,but I'm getting better.As far as the tach you will learn to listen to the engine sound and know where your RPM's are. Practice,practice,practice

I not sure you have to be well coordinated to go with the gear tranny, BUT you do need to have a thorough understanding of how they function so you can avoid damaging them. I think most premature clutch wear comes from either "riding the clutch" (driving around with you foot on the pedal) or from trying to hold the vehicle on some kind of incline (instead of using the brake) by keeping the clutch at it's friction point. In either case you'll have a burnt/glazed clutch in a hurry. My dad made sure I never did that kind of thing. If you expect to do a lot of loader work then the HST is definitely the way to go. Many others will argue an HST is the only way to go no matter what kind of work you expect to be doing. BTW, I love the shuttle-shift on my S3010 -- smooth as butter. If you end up with a gear model, go slow and gentle on transmission until you are accustomed to all the various shift levers: shuttle-shift, hi/low range, 2/4 wheel drive, and normal gear shift. You'll grind some gears a little at first, but you'll never even look at the shuttle-shift lever after you used it for a while. Good luck with whatever way you go.

Thanks Little Blue and Dodger! Yes practice is the key! Just normal loading work with some back-dragging when the box scraper isn't appropriate. Hilly rough terrain mower work(flail?). Rototiller and disc work. Backhoe if I stumble across a seriously good deal. My wife actually prefers gear drive(we shall see after she test operates HST and gear!) she says gear is more tractor like and also saves on fuel. At $4.00 per gallon fuel economy is definitely an issue.
