So I got my new-to-me 3039 back from the dealer the other day and I decided I couldn't stand the seat that was on it anymore.
When I obtained the tractor, the previous owner painted it yellow and it had some cracks in the seat that allowed water to enter the seat and then make my behind wet so I finally decided I didn't like a bidet on a tractor.
The original seat is very heavy and the seat back is welded to a bracket that bolts to the bottom seat and has the mount for the seat belts. The seat back had to get cut off
After saving the part that the seat belts attach to ... it had to be cut on a bit to allow for the new seat to be positioned properly. Here is a shot of the bottom metal after it was cleaned up and painted:
Here is a side view after attaching the sliding tracks. You can see the seatbelt mounting holes at the back of the seat:
What it looks like on the tractor ... it was late when I finally got it on:
The new seat looks like it may hold up better than the original. It's memory foam type of material ... made for John Deere Gators but doesn't say Deere on it. Its from Northern Tool and was $89 so it was a lot cheaper than replacing the original:
I had to relocate the lever to adjust the seat to the right side. If you are short, the new seat will contact the 2W/4W lever if the suspension seat bottoms out. I'm tall and I have the suspension seat adjusted for my weight and it clears the 2W/4W lever and remotes. It also moves back further than the original now so I have more room ... and my behind doesn't get wet anymore and looks better than what was on it when I purchased the tractor
