Mowing LS 5020C PTO Problems

The PTO on my new 5020C would not work from day one. Dealer replaced some kind of hydraulic controller and it worked for 4 hours and same problem came back. When I turn on the PTO switch the indicator light on the dash panel lights up for 3 seconds, then goes out and the transmission pressure light comes on. The PTO never rotates. Anybody else had this problem?

60hrs and no issues with U5030. Ask for a different unit.

Sounds like a transmission issue. Id have them crack the case at a minimum and take a look. What's your dealer saying?

ditto to what has been said. Sounds like somebody fubared the assembly. Maybe put a one way valve on in the wrong direction...?

No problem with my 7010 but I havent used the pto much. I think the new unit suggestion is the way to go. Why accept a tractor that had to go to the shop on day one. How much have you used it so far. If you used it for several hours prior to discovering the issue, then you may not be able to "insist" on a new unit, but if they had to immediately take it back, then BRING OUT ANOTHER ONE MISTER DEALER.

OP would have to check their state's laws. It is different from state to state.

Thanks for the inputs. Lemon law in Texas is in effect and it is three strike and out. The 5020 is in the shop now for the 3rd fix and I'm betting they don't come up with a good fix. Will update the outcome.

Glad to hear it. I'm hoping the dealer is being helpful. Kinda surprised LS USA hasn't made a post. I'm sure they are reading.

Have any of the other colors post here or anywhere else. I would say no. I am sure they would not want to do business like that. Maybe on there own site under there rules. I bet they do look in.

Not even a PM to be private? I guess I expected more. Aviation is my background and the boys at Boeing and Lockheed will ask for ideas and even listen to issues. Sometimes they even get used. Lol

Got a call this morning that my 5020 was fixed after 3rd trip to shop and ready to be picked up. I arrived post haste w/trailer and as shop mechanic and dealer was showing me how the pto was fixed and working properly it quit for the 4th time and would not work again! It never made it out the shop door much less up on my trailer! Now they say they have to get with the factory because they have no idea what the cause is much less the fix. I'm starting my lemon law application next. Not happy.

Dealer say anything about getting you a new 5020c? Just switching it out for a different one, different model, or refund?
What have they worked on so far? New transmission? Drivetrain?

ounds like the PTO switch or the PTO regulator is bad. Dads LS I3040 he sold the landfill his tractor. Dad had hired his step son in law to help mow at the landfill. He was using the 6 foot finish mower and mowed all day with the mower not working properly Mentioned it at the end of the day. THe tractor was running wide open andthe mower barely turning. THe dealer replaced the regulator and its worked fine since.

Sounds like it might be a plumbing problem, reminds me of my Kenmore oven that they replaced everything on it including the internal lining but the element continued to heat paying no attention to the thermostat (wiring problem yet they never replaced the wiring, just all the components) I would bet that if they are replacing the clutches, switches etc. then it is a wiring or plumbing problem more than mechanical. It might be mechanical after the wiring problem causes something to crater, regardless, now is the time to enforce the Lemon Law on them. A verbal intent should be enough but you may have to enlist the services of a lawyer for a formal letter to get their attention.
