I picked my 2538 up yesterday. I was able to get 1 stump down with 100 more to go.

If you have a lot of stumps like I do you might want to take a look at this grinder. WG24 Stump Grinder | Woodland Mills US
It's much more affordable than anything else I've seen. Use it to grind your stumps then sell it. For about two and half grand to your door you wouldn't be out much by the time you sell it. I found that stumps go really slow and painful with a small backhoe like ours. I get about half of them out before I move on and try another one.

Either one but the link I posted goes right to the stump grinder. At least it does with my puter.

It goes to a saw mill on mine, just trying to get your point across to the poster.

That grinder looks pretty sweet. I have a few stumps but not many. Thinking about getting one and trying to find work for it.

Don't know if I'd try to make money with one. I look at this one as more of a homeowner grade tool. If you're gonna go into the stump grinding business there are other more pro grade tools out there that would likely be better for constant use. Of course you'll pay more to get one but that's what I like about this one a lower cost choice for us pour folks who have too many stumps.
I also think you'd be better off with an HST tractor rather than the gear and shuttle drive machine that I have. Woodland says it's not a problem but the slowest mine goes in low range, 1st gear with the size tires I have is about 1 MPH at PTO rpms.

Does the ROPS fold down any further- I bought a new 2538, traded in the max 28xl and will be taking delivery within 3 weeks- Dealership only had a cab model on hand- just patiently waiting for delivery and wondering if the darn thing will fit in the same location I store the max28. I measured 13'6 from 3 point to bucket; however I never remember the ROPS need to be folded to get it in the door.

It stops at a 90 degree angle. If you curl the bucket all the way towards the the tractor you can get it to 12'8"

12'8 with the rops down?

The 12'6" measurement was with the bucket curled to the end of the 3 point. The ROPS extends another 8-9" past the 3 point.
