Wow that is some lawn you've got in the background... Tee markers and all! Glad you like the GT - they are nice looking machines... I wish I could find a good price on a used one. With just about any Deere product though, they aren't cheap used either. Good Luck with it.

I would LOVE to have soil like that here, it would be a welcome change from the mix of clay and rocks that make up our garden and flowerbeds.

Sorry- I was getting lazy that day... I was abbreviating for Garden Tractor. I know an X when I see it - drooling lustily at it I should say. I'd love to get one of those, but I think I'd be thrown out if I did. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I took out a bunch of trees and debree, also added 20 yards of black compost, I've tilled it in already and want be planting until
sept, I guess its best to let it sit in the soil a while before planting, or is it? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Your tiller is the 42 hydraulic I believe. Why did you go with this one instead of PTO tiller. I see a tiller in the future for my 585 but will need to get the pto and 3 pt first.

I think the rear pto is only optional on the 595? Im not 100% sure of that, seems to be what I remember, The hydraulic tiller tills great, reverse tine rotation, very aggressive and effective. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Does that have a separate hydrualic motor that you mount somewhere? How do it work? I am thinking of going with this as opposed to buying the rear pto and pto tiller. I think all X series can get the rear PTO which is a dealer upgrade.

Yes, the pump mounts under the tractor pretty easily, then you just hook up the shaft. I like the hydraulic tiller because of the indirect
power supply, if a rock gets hung in the tines it has a clutch action
which gives you a couple seconds to kill the pto switch, probobly easier on the shear pins as well. Get the skid shoes with it .
they are great for hard clay, just adjust it down a notch at a time
until you reach the desired depth.
