This is how it looked last night when I quit.

I know it was dark when you finished up last night........I shed a little light on the subject.

See attachment.

Thank you to all for the compliments.

I really enjoy reading all of your messages and thought I would share what I can. Even if I don't know what I'm doing!

Now would you like to try alligator wrestling. I could almost contemplate what each picture was going to look like, having gone through this once myself about 20 years ago. I believe that after you know how to do the track replacement, it gets easier. It is the first time trial and error that wears you out. Great pictures and text.

Thanks for the pictures and discription. I have a small Komatsu dozer. I just hope I never have to do this.

Eddie,

There is a program on Discovery Channel called "Tank School" that follows a marine class through - well - Tank School.

In one segment they lose a track on their M1 tank - in the mud - at night as I recall - and have to fix it by flashlight.

As I recall, they did not have the use of a tank recovery vehicle, or even a Ford 555 TLB. - But there were five of them.

Moral: Five Marines = Eddie + a TLB /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Both your story and the one on TV were equally well told. Thanks.

Your photos and comments are great and thanks for sharing your knowledge. Now that it is all done you should ask the heavy equip mechanic's how they do it, might be good for a few at-a-boys you never know.

WVBill,

Does it help that I spent five years in the Marine Corps. I was an embassy marine, never been in a tank though.
