The guys around here that fly say aviation gas is 100 octane low lead.Also they will only put it in airplanes and no carry-out.
I would guess the lead is needed for valve lubrication as many aircraft engines use 1930's technology.
If they could sell it to you,it could be used in a car which would be a no-no.Even the delivery tankers are airplane fuel only-none of the local oil distributors ever haul it.Most likely worried about cross contanimation.
Best stuff around here is 90 octane ethanol-free "rec" gas at 30-40 cents more,and tough to find!
I caught an article recently that only 3% of the fuel loading racks in the country are capable of delivering ethanol-free fuel!Bad news for us.
