Loosing Bead on Front R-1 tire/L3830

I made the mistake of mowing through some pretty nasty mesquite and wound up with two flats. Tractor Supply has a product called "Green Slime" which, if you follow the directions, will seal punctures and probably the bead problem.

I lost the bead on a front last winter; it was on a cold day--I'm 30 miles north of you, so we both know about frigid temps--when I went out to start my L4400, I noticed that one of the front tires was a little low, for no apparent reason. I thought I'd drive it over to the garage to pump the tire up. The first turn I made made the bead pull off, and turned a 3 minute job into an hour job. Hasn't happened since I put air back in---after seating the bead-- so I concluded that the air pressure was a little low in that tire anyway, and the extreme cold weather lowered the pressure even more. Take away advice for me anyway, maybe the ag tires I have can be low on air and not show with a characteristic sidewall bulge. My 8N tires have tubes in them(1951 pre tubeless rims) so beads don't pop off the same, and I'm used to running low pressure for flotation. I think air pressure is the key.

Simon...Good info..thanks. I will have to keep up on checking the pressure...maybe it did get low like Art says. When I get time, I will get some inner tubes. Take care...

This tool has quickly become my best friend. For my front tires, I just lift them up with the bucket and give it a blast and bingo - job done, two minutes.

I saw a local garage use this and knew I had to have one. Even great for Two wheel dolly's with pneumatic tires. One day I watched two of my workers for a half hour try to put a tire back on a dolly using truck straps, etc. so I said that's it - next day I got the cheetah.
