As the result of a deal made "on the courthouse steps" before a motion hearing on a foreclosure action I instituted four years ago, I could well be adding almost twenty-eight acres to the nearly eleven I have now.

The property in question borders mine on one side and at the rear. In total, the combined properties would have something over 600' of frontage and extend back about half a mile from the road and include a seven acre parcel adjacent to one side property line at the very rear, which is wooded with a small creek.

The acreage going to foreclosure sale is a tremendously junk filled and neglected piece of real estate with a house bearing a condemnation tag and at least three other buildings that should have them. On the plus side it has what appears to be a relatively new 4" well and the highest land around for a building site just a short stroll from my barn. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks, Ron, but it's not mine yet. The deal needs to be approved by the probate court (a relative 'rubber stamp') and then the foreclosure sale will take place.

Since my judgment amount exceeds what I believe to be the value of the property, I should be the top bidder there. If I'm not, I'll try to sell my eleven acres to the top bidder. I figure if he'd overpay 5:1 on those 28 acres I may as well jump on the bandwagon. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

For THAT kind of money, I'll find some land somewhere else. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you have a local volunteer Fire dept donate the old house for a practice burn. You realy don't want them practicing on your good house.

Thanks, Jeff. I've already spoken with them about it. My only requirement is that it be completely burned down by mid-February. I want it off the tax rolls before March first. That's the day assessments on real estate are made here.

No point it having it around for taxes for yet another year. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Gary
Neighbors across the street had a house burnt down by our Volunteer Fire Department. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Very good job until they decided to use their Power Wagon winch to pull the brick chimney down. Chimney was higher than they thought. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
It fell on front of the Power Wagon causing major sheet metal damage. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

You will have to forgive John. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
He got caught posting about his new tractor without PICTURES. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
