Got a three year old BX2200 and right after the warranty expired, so did the seal on the fuel gauge sending unit. It was leaking fuel onto the inside of the left rear tire if I filled the tank, even if I left it less than full it would stay wet on the left side of the tank from the fuel splashing around in the tank. I stopped by the dealer and bought a new sending unit, I finally got around to it last week and pulled the ROPS and the left rear fender, was then able to pull the tank down enough to lift out the sending unit, guess what, it is exactly like the new unit that I got at the dealer. It looks like the rubber gasket in the tank that the sending unit sets in must have shrunk, the unit just sets in the rubber. I didn't want to go all the way back to the dealer and exchange the parts so I cleaned the original unit and the rubber gasket and put a layer of silicone around the unit and stuck it back in. I put it all back together and let it set a couple of days then I filled her up with fuel.
Yesterday, the RECC came and pulled six of their utility poles out of the ground and left them for me. I used the tractor to pull them to the house and Hurray, no fuel leak at all, hope it lasts. If it doesn't at least I've found that the job to replace it isn't too bad.

good job. not sure how the silicone will hold up with diesel, should be ok, but if not there are sealants that will hold up. i had basically the same problem with the fuel line on my gas weed wacker, got some sealant form the dealer and it worked fine, better than $$$$ for a new tank. can't remember what the sealant was tho /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gifb

I could be wrong, but I think there was a recall on that problem...I know I had to have my BX2200 fixed for that when I owned it.

Milkman, where have you been hiding again? I am about ready to come back around for some more time in the creek. My project around the barn should be done Saturday and with that done and out of the way, I should get some time to work on other things..........like the rock garden out front.

Come by anytime, You are always welcome.

You're correct Jim, there is an updated sender with a different seal. I did one of the updates about 10 months back in our shop. Milkmans Kubota dealer should have given him the updated sender unit. It has an updated part number as well.

Sounds like he fixed his problem for now, but that silicon won't hold forever.

You are my hero. I just discovered the same leak this morning. It’s exactly as you described it. Thanks Milkman.

The sending unit on my BX1500 is also leaking. I called my dealer and talked to a mechanic. Told him I understood there was a fix for this problem. He said he thought there was a kit to repair it. He checked and found the repair kit was only for the larger BXs with fuel gauges and not for the BX1500 with only a low level warning light. Has anyone had a repair kit installed on their BX1500 sending unit or is my dealer’s mechanic correct?

First I want to thank "milkman" as my bx2200 had the same fuel leak and his post helped me fix it.
The service bulletin number on the fuel sensor leak is PSB-2002-013. The updated part number is K2561-96140 kit, fuel stay. The cost is $20.00.

I've been pulling the cupholder out and checking mine once in a while and I had parked it overnight with the left side downhill, and when I pulled the cupholder out and took a look, the top of the tank was wet. Looks like I may have to eventually pull it out again and when I do, I'll put in the updated part. Thanks for the part #, I'll make a note of it and the next time I'm by the dealer, I'll pick one up. That will be a good job for cooler weather.
