There were no Eaton pumps or parts available in Australia so we fitted a Sunstrand pump. Got the final bill the other day AUS$21500 parts, labor and tax,it hurts like ****. That's 10% of what the machine cost 3000hrs ago.

Ouch....that hurts. I hope the guys that are under charging for mulching are reading this. If your not charging enough, a repair like that will sink you. Was the Sunstrand pump a bolt in or did you have to adapt it to fit in there? Does it have the same specs as the original Eaton?

Because they are a threw drive pump Sunstrand matched the shaft. The bolt patterns are the same both ends so there is no adaption required. The Sunstrand( 90 series)is just a little bit smaller, (100 cc's to Eaton 105.5 cc's) but has a larger charge pump. We had to change some hoses and some other bits and pieces. One of the good things to happen was the pump was setup to the engine HP exactly so in that sence it's better than new with no engine stalling and production remains the same. For you guys on the Top Side the H1 series Sunstrand pump would be a better replacement than what we used but they are not available Downunder. Apparently we only get the leftovers here.:confused2:.Sunstand also have larger pumps (115,125 cc's) that may fit in the frame of the machine if you are looking at repowering the Rayco but it would take some very careful measuring because there is bugger all room to work in.
James, the underchargers won't give a damm until it happens to them then they will squeal like stuck pigs(hogs).
