I've been considering dropping in a 200 to 220 hp motor in my rayco c140. Anyone done or know someone who has done this? Wondering how big of a pain it's going to be but it will defiantly will be worth it. Any suggestions on a motor?

If you had the tier 3 John Deere 4.5 engine with common rail fuel injection you could add a tuner that would give you another 30-40 hp over the 140 hp. Dont know if Rayco ever put any common rail engines in the c140, I think they only used the tier 2 engines. I think the tier 3 would be the easiest to transplant into your c140. I don't think you could get a cummins 5.9 in it but it would be cool.

I talked to a couple of guys at our local deere dealership. They seem to think I can upgrade my injectors an get a large turbo but haven't looked into it yet.

yes just being a 6 cylinder would help just trying to get it to fit in would be the only problem. Drop it in yours an let me know if it works I need a ginny pig to know if it's worth the time an money. Love the idea of no freaking computer.
Thanks for the info bud.

they are a 4045H275 common rail engine. The tier 3 4045 goes up to 275hp- JD spec's

Wow 275 hp would be asking a lot of a 4.5 liter 4 cylinder that needs to run at max power all day long. The 140's are impressive little machines as they are, I can't imagine 275 hp. I would be thrilled if I could get another 30 or 40 out of mine. I think any more than that would be maxing out the chassis and the head.

Let me know what they say. I asked the JD dealer around me and they didn't what to be bothered. Increasing HP using a tuner is always the cheapest or if they had mechanical injection you could turn it up. I found someone that makes a tuner for the tier 3 engines but not our tier 2. Bigger injectors may be the only way.
