Looking for new tractor

Hi thanks for the welcome. I have a small hobby farm, but need something big enough to pull disks, move fairly large hay bales etc, We also have outrageous winds from time to time which produce snow drifts and snow fields up to 6 feet or more. I want a tractor with a good cab to get out of the blowing snow in the winter and the dust in the summer when disking or brush jogging.

Look at the LS tractors I looked at Kioti and felt the LS had more value for the money plus I have a dealer I trust and two remotes standard. The lift rating on 3 pt was greater as well as the capacity of loader. The operator area was very comfortable for me to get on I had room to stretch my legs out and felt I could on for hours. I can set on the tractor for all day and wish I had HID lighting (looking to add btw) Look at pump specifications in GPM for both steering as well as flow for implements. They make tractors for New Holland and dont hold me to this but I think McCormick is marketing as there machine. As always I learned from the Vets here it can all boil down mostly to your dealer even if you do not have much trouble. Good luck and have fun in your shopping I know I enjoyed my search.

I'll 2nd this, if I'm not mistaken the 50hp LS can come with a cab{?}. I also looked at the kioti, thought it seemed like a nice machine, but the price made me think twice.

McCormick, Landini (was LS previous to 2011), Bobcat and of course Kioti are all the exact same Daedong tractor with different loaders.

I do like LS, at the time I didn't have a local dealer. Now, the LS guys can correct me, but I believe the parent company to LS is LG, which some of you might have heard of.

My only experience with LS was at the farm show last year right after I bought my Kioti CK30. It looked like a great tractor, like Kioti, much beefier than most of the competition, but a little less refined than Kioti. I actually started a thread here on TBN asking if there was some relation or partnership between Kioti and LS because a lot of the parts looked interchangeable. Since they're made a couple miles apart, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of parts are sourced from the same place.

Murphy, if Kioti prices the DK line like they price the CK line, there will be little difference in price between the DK40 and DK45, with a big price jump to the DK50. In that case, I agree with the DK45 choice. If the jump to the DK50 is reasonable, consider going that way.

The DK40/45/50 are going to be bigger stronger tractors than comparably priced Kubota, JD, Case etc tractors. I have a Kioti built cab, although it was dealer install and not factory like the DK line, and it is very nice, well built etc, but I'd still say nobody builds a cab as nice as JD. But if you're looking for a workhorse instead of a Mercedes, the DK line will fit the bill, they give a lot of bang for the buck. Kioti's been in North America since the mid 80's (1986 I believe) and you'll be happy with that choice. Don't underestimate the value of the dealer either, for any brand.

I looked at the Kioti, thought they were nice tractor but big difference in price here. After looking at all the other tractors I decided on the TYM. Great dealer here as well.

Yeah, many people get this wrong. LS Group spun off from LG Group in 2005. The LS tractors were under the LS Cable division. The LS tractor division spun off from LS Cable in 2008 to form LS Mtron Ltd., however they all belong under the LS Group. Then LS Tractor America was established in 2009 who is under LS Mtron Ltd. That is a quick history.

The Kioti DK series with cab should be an excellent match. The 40 has plenty of power and identical loader and 3pt specs. I might opt for the 45 if you expect to do a lot of mowing while running the A/C in hot weather. The 45 just adds 4hp which is about what the A/C might consume. The 50 doesn't really add much to the 45 as it still isn't enough HP to move up to batwing mowers and any of the DK models can run 6 or 7 ft mowing implements. The price differential varies as it cost Kioti exactly the same amount to build each tractor as they are literally identical except for piston size. Last month there was relatively little difference between the 40 and 45 while Kioti was ripping off the horsepower junkies with a big premium on the 50. I own the non cab 40 and think it has perfectly adequate HP. Spend money on better or more implements not unnecessary HP and you'll have a more effective tool.

I looked at TYM, LS, Kubota, JD, New Holland before buying the Kioti. The TYM and LS were both more than the Kioti with comparable features. The Kubota was 4K more and not as heavy. The JD was not in the same ballpark as far as price. The final + for the Kioti was the level of service the selling dealer is willing to give. If you are finding Kioti pricing quite a bit higher than the LS/TYM you need to do some shopping. M.I.E. has been great to deal with and there level of product knowledge is better than most I have talked to. If you are going to do any heavy snow blowing or brush hogging then go with the 50 HP unit. I agree with most on here that the 40DK is the best value for the $$$ but ater living 40 years in the snow belt [this year excluded] HP is king for blowing snow. I have never said I wish I had less HP in a piece of equipment. CJ
