Deerherd, a cab isn't an option for some of us. I was offered a great deal on a cab model (dealer had it in stock for a year) but declined even to get a quote. My tractor use would be reduced 50% on my property if I had a cab. I could not mow my lawn, clear trails, or gather firewood because of trees.

If you look at the actual size of the two tractors, cab & tractor with ROPS up, there is only a 5" difference in height. (I hope you ride with it up, especially in the woods.) Keeping trails trimmed half a foot higher with a chain saw on a stick is not that much more effort. The two tractors have the same footprint so if you keep your trail wider than your wheels what's the difference? Now if you drive with the ROPS down slapping trees and brush then you could have a problem.... Not sure why there would be a difference in gathering wood unless we are talking "Rambo Woodcutters"

IMHO the tractor in either configuration is way overkill as a "lawn" tractor but if you are talking mowing with a rotary cutter, again I can't think of why you would use a cab tractor 50 percent less. I cut all over my 77 acres and with the deer flies, misquitos, wasps, bees, dust, pollen, rain and ninety plus temps I would list a cab on a tractor as a plus. I won't rehash what I think for the snow.

So if anybody happens to have some dealer offer a smokin deal on a cab version of whatever color tractor you are looking for, grab it up. You won't use it 50 percent less, I can guarantee it!

Be safe.

I respectfully wish to disagree. The operative words here being three MIRRORS and not being bundled up like an eskimo. The only time I hurt my neck is when the hot single lady across the main road is shoveling her drive in those tight stretch pants. So technically yes, sometimes I strain my neck.....

I have mirrors on my rig and they are great to have; but for me they are not a substitute for actually having a large clear view that looking forward provides. Maybe its' my progressive bifocals distorting the view too.

As for your hot neighbor...it didn't happen without pictures to prove it.

The house came with a small MF tractor and a 5' 3pt snow blower. The snow blower was too much for the old tractor and would over heat. The snow blower works well but doesn't fully cover the tires. Still waiting for a heavy snow of 1' or more than I should get a good idea how well the snow blower works

If the blower works good you might try adding 'wings' to the sides of the blower.
I did this once to a 4' Woods that didn't cover the width of the rear wheels and it worked out real well.
I added 12" to each side and incorporated drift cutters onto them... the blower handled all I could cram into it.
Just a thought.

Here is what I did to my blower (73") that was too small for the width of my rear wheels. Works well now but I really need an 84" blower to be satisfied.

She got her car stuck today. After pulling her out and plowing her driveway she kept asking me to come in for tea and warm up. I hate tea and I was already warm (I DO have a cab!) and I figured she probably just had something in the house she wanted me to fix. You have to get up real early to fool me!
