Seeders Looking at Woods STR72 seeder

I'm looking at a Woods power seeder and wondered if anyone else has used or has one.

Have u done any reseeding in existing yards?
Woods claims it will do it but I'm curious as to how good of a job.

sure, does a fabulous job. Does a great job of roughing up any exposed soil and flattens and smashes existing turf enough to open it up for seed without really hurting it.
The Super rennovator (S,tr) also has easily adjusted front rollers. You can position them at angles (crabbing) to the rear roller, that gives maximum tearing of existing turf. Run it parallel to the rear for maximum smoothing of bare soils.
On about 1/2 the yards I install, it's all I use. Does a pretty fair job of smoothing, though I still need the box blade.
Does a FABULOUS job of making bare soil look great and ready to accept seed.
Outrageously expensive, but very good. Seeding is the BEST. Front roller preps, rear roller covers the seed. Fast. Even. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've found a used one in the $1500 range, needs some work but I think I will get them to let me demo it and see what happens.
About 8" band of teeth on front drum are gone but I can make at work and weld back in.

forgot to mention one of the best features. The seeder is unaffected by wind! the seed drops in individual "streams" from the bottom of the seeder and falls between the two rollers.
Used mine today when a broadcast would have been out of the question due to the wind. Nice benefit.
