Looking at pull type snowblowers

I have yet to even come close to sticking my tractor in the snow we get. It痴 got good ground clearance though. I知 pretty sure a Meteor is going to find its way in the back of my Kubota this winter.
I currently don稚 have any rear remotes. I知 thinking I will add a set and get the hydraulic chute but manual flapper.

If it gets real bad with snow this is the front blower that works very nice. 550hp blower is quite effective.

But to be serious, almost all blowers here in Scandinavian is the pulled type, and they works, period. img_2485.jpeg

Well, that's a very small tractor with almost no ground clearance, on such tractors a pull blower makes very little sense, but on a normal, small tractor 40 to 80 HP with proper ground clearance there are very rare you can't drive in the snow.
That end loader the neighbor uses has been overwhelmed before with the drifting snow. Then he gets his grader out.....

Yep, the pull type seems silly, also, you can't get anywhere near close to a house, or garage, etc. the tractor is in front of it!!.. it also means you have to drive over deep snow to get the blower to move the snow!!..

Have you ever actually seen one in use? The visibility to the rear is phenomenal and you can back within inches of your house, garage, etc. We get so much snow up here that my town actually hosts the US Olympic Crosscountry skiers for training. The inverted blowers are very popular here

I may be a bit late to this conversation (currently deployed on a task in the miffle east). We have an 84 inch MK Martin Meteor pull type snow blower. It is astounding at clearing our 800 meter farm lane and easily tackles 2-3 feet of snow in a single pass. If you regulary have more than that buy a push blower, or move (LOL). But...and this is the big but, you need a snow pusher on the front and trygg chains all around if you are going to do a good job. The blower won't do everything. The greatest advantage to it is the absense of lower back pain! That alone is worth it. We also have an 84 inch Meteor push blower. Had the push blower for 15 years and the pull for eight. Push blower has not left the shed in eight years. Probably tell you something. Just can't bring myself to sell it...just in case. You know that feeling. Good Luck.

I have a 3pt snowblower. I would dearly love to have a pull type snowblower. Those who own them seem to really like them.

I guess if you can afford a pull type blower you like blowing snow against your home and also like wet basements.

Huh? Just change the direction of the spout or adjust the deflection chute!

The only way to use one of those is to either chain up all four tires and keep up with a storm or put it on a big tractor.. The snow depth in that video is nothing, if I had one of those on that size tractor and waited until one of our average 2ft storms was over I would be stuck in a hurry..

Another problem with pull type blowers, besides having to drive/pack down the snow before you blow it. Is that they are not any good at moving banks back. Each blower type has it's plus's and minus's, none of them are perfect. A three point rear pointed blower can be lifted up to work banks. A front blower does not ride up/down terrain as good as a rear pointed blower. Rear blower, you have to look backwards, etc...

A pull style blower with a back blade will do most any job.

A real great feature is being able to back right up to doors and pull the snow forward a bit then back up and blow it.
For my two brothers homes, I have garage door remotes in my cab. I open their door, back up and lower the rear blade on the concrete floor and pull all snow away from the garage.
No shoveling ever necessary.

Deep drifts, back into them with the blower up high and pull the snow forward using the rear blade.

I had a traditional style back up blower for 20 years+ . The pull style is one I would never leave.

I even use the blower and its blade for leveling top soil and gravel.
