Looking at GX335

I am replacing my 1 year old Simplicity Regent 24/50 with something a little bigger and some other features.

My dealer has a GX335 with 300 hours. From my research so far it looks like he is offereing a decent deal (with my trade) but I wondered if anyone had a serial # guide so I can figure the year on this thing.

Ok so I have ascertained that it is a 2002.

It has a 54" mower and a bagger.

I have heard about the plastic camshaft gear being a problem but don't know how to tell if it has one. I have also read that if it was plastic it probably would have broken and been replaced by 300 hours.

Anyone have any thoughts on this thing?

I understood plastic was replaced with metal by 1999. Should not be a problem. Might get more/better input on weekendfreedommachines.
