Kubota M8 series tractors are manufactured by Versatile in Winnipeg. I had to be reminded of that. Nobody has come up with any others sold in North America.

My newest Kubota is a 2012 model. It smokes like Popeye. It's Kubota made. Parts are readily available. Strong dealership network.

I get comfort from all that.

I would be very apprehensive about the majority of the "brand" names that have been tossed around in this discussion. Including the one that started this thread.

Thanks, I see now where I missed that tid bit. Makes sense to me, their very largest tractor, might as well contract that with a manufacturer (versatile) who specializes in such very large row-crop machine design and assembly. Kubota doesn't list a price for the M8 online, but Versatile's Nemesis model (their smallest, same Cummins B6.7N engine and ZF 30F x 15R trans) starts at $180,000 but quickly options to well above 200k. Not really the kind of machine we talk about here on TBN, makes sense why we aren't familiar.

Dang, that's too bad for you. I bought my Kioti used, private party, and when the check engine light came on, I asked my local dealer as politely as I could if they would troubleshoot if for me and possibly repair under warranty. They were extremely friendly about it, and transferred my warranty over for a small fee. As a result, I gladly paid them full price for an implement I'd been wanting. If they had denied me warranty service, zero chance I would have ever, EVER set foot on their property again or given them a single dollar.

When you get paid directly by a manufacturer to cover repairs under warranty, why do you care if the customer originally bought the tractor from you or not? It actually makes no difference to you financially at that point, and you lose the prospect of any future business with that individual (or 3 or 10 more depending on how word spreads). Just seems like stubborn pride, you know? It's not like someone goes to a different dealer to intentionally screw you out of a sale, and then expects to walk all over you for warranty coverage in the future.

Good post, I have had OUTSTANDING sales and service From Michigan Iron & Equipment and Van Pamemals both great Kioti dealers who would help anyone.

The problem with ANY warranty repair is the company (not the dealer) sets the time and billed cost of the repair.

If I was a dealer, I would also be hesitant to repair a non purchased unit under warranty because it's usually a screw job for the dealer.

Interestingly, I don't have that issue with my dealer, he maintains all my tractors whether I purchased them from him or not but I'm also a good (and paying) customer who prefers to buy from him anyway. the one used unit I bought, he didn't have and I was looking for a specific model in a specific tear of manufacture.

Neither of mine are under warranty anyway so I pay the shop rate plus parts. Only ever had one warranty claim and he provided the parts and I installed them myself and that was years ago.

Have one going in shortly for a tune up and spray test on the injectors. They do top tier work and I'm never in a hurry anyway as I own and use multiple tractors. Just bought a new 45 grand round bailer from him.

Glad your not my dealer with your way of thinking.

Dang what a bunch of whinney cry babies, I see and read hear almost daily of people driving hours and hundreds of miles to buy from a not local dealer. Sometimes they may save a thousand or so dollars on the initial purchase, and then turn around and expect a local dealer to perform the warrentty services on a unit he didn't sell and make any money on with a smile when he knows you passed him to buy elsewhere.
Then to top it off you expect the same smile and friendly service as the people who did purchase from him. Maybe some of you should stop and look at things from the other side of the counter.
I will travel to buy if unavailable locally and if the local dealer can't come close to the price, but a few hundred or a thousand dollars on a $20,000-$80,000 purchase isn't worth the time to travel.

Assess your needs carefully. Do you really really need a Backhoe? They are very cumbersome when doing other work. Most are difficult to unhook and attach.

Good point to consider. Unless you have a bunch of work for a backhoe in mind you might consider forgoing that option and renting a mini excavator when you need to dig. On the other hand, I have purchased some tools I needed for one job and found myself using it a lot more than I had thought or planned. Still, it's a big chunk of cash for something seldom used except as a counterweight.

Are we just talking warranty repairs here? This guy seems to be shucking off all repairs for non-customers, even those he could bill full rate for.

Could be his repair load is such that he don't want or need any more. One thing I learned long ago and that is, if you take on more than you can chew, everyone gets pizzed off.

Not as of late they don't. They did way back when "Grey market', but not now. The only 'rebadged units they sell now are companies they own majority share in that produce machines and they sell them under the Kubota trademark.

Not little ones either. They are ag units.

Like the round bailer I just purchased. Says Kubota on the side panels, but it's actually a rebadged Kneverland as all their hay tools are. Kneverland is a respected name in implements and Kubota has purchased a controlling share of them. Just like Great Plains.

You'd get a charge out of my operators manual. been translated from Italian to English and like the earlier Kubota operators manuals, has some interesting verbiage in it.

When Kubota purchases controlli9ng interest in a company the do their homework first.

EXACTLY Lou. Always get a kick out of people who travel hundreds of miles just to save a buck on a unit and then when issues arise and the local dealer isn't all wonderful and accommodating, they cry like little babies.

Funny, this reminded me of a store I was in that discontinued a product because they couldn't keep it on the shelves. They kept running out.
There are other ways to solve the problem besides turning away customers.
