With people currently selling tractors for close to what they paid for them just a few years ago, it's hard to say what the actual ownership cost is going to be in real dollars. 100 hours is just barely broken in. Tractor doesn't look abused. Comes with the r4 tires less likely to tear up the trails. Helps the seller move on with his life. Whatever it costs today, probably going to be more later. etc.

Dearest says we don't have the $$$$ to get it.... :(
Yeah, but what did your wife say?:D I discuss any large purchase with my wife, I’m lucky, she can tell when I really want something.

The only practical three point mower for this baby sized 2025r sized tractor is a 4ft one which was why I asked owners here about them. And I did get GREAT responses to that qestion. Nonetheless, this machine is to big for mowing our yard. Still love to have it for mowing trails and doing work on them in general, plus it fits with a mower perfectly well on our current trailer. What should I tell dearest the reasons we should get it??
I have a smaller SCUT, never had the mid mount mower. The great advantage is the variety of 3 point attachments. The cost can add up. Live in an area where it is getting harder to burn. A chipper makes quick work of any trees/limbs. Emerald Ash Borer killed off dozens of 25 year old trees. The tractor/chainsaw/chipper made short work of it. Snowblower pays for itself depending on the length of the driveway, and amount of annual snowfall. Storm clean up becomes a breeze. If your on a rural property its probably the best investment you can make for maintaining it, next to getting the septic pumped, and saving yourself a lot of back breaking labor. I've used mine to regrade areas to control water erosion, contoured ditches into swales to ease grass cutting. Spread gravel and smooth the driveway, turn over the mulch pile. Move top soil for the garden, firewood , scrap metal, large rocks, water tanks.
My tractor still has an easy 60% of the value after 17 years, and 900 hours. They do not depreciate in value like cars. In 10 years you will appreciate saving wear and tear on your body from not having to use a shovel and wheelbarrow.
I have a Ferris zero turn to mow a fairly flat lawn. Its great on dry grass, but cheek clenching on wet hills. Pretty scary at times.

Have her help you with a project that the tractor would make short work of. Like shoveling a couple ton of top soil into a wheelbarrow and pushing it up the hill to level or smooth an other part of the property. About half way up she will give her blessing!

My husband pulled a similar thing with me many years ago with tools and me not wanting to agree to buying them due to cost. Five minutes trying to do his job without, convinced me he needed them and I have not once said no to a tool of any sort since.

My sister wanted a raised flower bed built with a real nice stone wall but wouldn’t let her hubby buy a tractor. My husband helped out by hauling the stone, showing them what to do and then leaving all the dirt for filling the 25ft wide circular with a depth ranging from 2 to 3ft about 200ft away when he delivered it.
“Honey if you want your raised flower bed, You need to move that dirt” my brother in law said. Gave her a wheelbarrow and a shovel. 2 days latter they had a tractor with a loader just like mine.

I rented one of those. Very light and unstable with a load. For another $4k you could probably find a much heavier tractor.
He is struggling already with the 16K figure.... is 20K going to be easier?

I've used compact tractors before, albeit a slightly larger one than this. It just came up locally with lowish hours and seemed to be reasonably priced..

Hrm, I have a 500 lb garden tractor with a loader. It does just fine within its work envelope.

I can’t imagine this is any different than any other machine its size.
I don’t drive around with loads at full height! Lol

OK, I'll toss my hat into the ring. The seller said the price is negotiable, so go back with your trailer and negotiate. If after using the tractor for a while, you and the CFO still think it;s too much tractor, or too much money to have invested in this fine specimen if a very useful machine, then put it up for sale. I'm thinking you will clear a $2000 profit on it.

That should light up your CFO with a big smile.
