Guys - please give me your thoughts on the following.

I am looking at two different tractors a YM1500D and the other being a 30.5hp 2wd Kioti. Prices are close - both about $3K.

Tractor will mostly be used with a tiller, bush hog, finish mower and blade.

I like the idea of the 4wd on the Yanmar, but wonder if I would ever really use it, as I don't anticipate using an FEL anytime soon - but you never know. Kinda wonder if the more hp, might be a better option.

1500D does come with a 4" bush hog, front weights, and 5' scrape blade. Nothing with the other. And then there is the wonderful green paint on the 1500D. That has got to be worth something - right?

More hp or 4wd and the included equipment?

Thanks - as always.
Mike

Welcome to TBN Mike. You must be close to me I'm in Walton.3k for a 30hp.Kioti I would take caution on that.On the 4WD 1500 if every things in working order thats a real good deal IMO.

I found it Mike Looks like the price may be fair from the pics.Long way to go though.

Keep asking here to determine if the green 1500D still has decent support. I think it would be about 1975 and prior. All the YM1500D's that I'm aware of are second series, red, which is well supported. There were some differences in parts between first and second series. If it checks out ok that is a fine price with 4wd and the accessories.

$3k for a recent 30 hp Kioti? That sounds like a discount for a problem. If it checks out ok mechanically and maybe its a bankruptcy sale or something, that is a steal.

The green 1500D is almost as well supported as the red one. We are getting in more green style parts all the time though so it wont be long and we should have as much as for the red. The only real differences are the 4wd knuckles, the rear axle housing area, & the throw out bearing/carrier. The engine, steering, trans, and other components are the same or interchangeable.

Thanks for the input guys.

The green paint I was reffering to is apparently where someone got hold of some JD green, and a little bit of yellow two. I think they wanted it to look like a JD - so it is green with yellow wheels.

Thanks again,
Mike

That's generally not a good sign. None of the reputable importers or resellers I am aware of play the game of using JD colors. Get references from the seller.....that's your best defense against talk without the walk backing it up. Make sure some of the references are a year old or more.

From what I understand the owner before the current owner painted it.

Be aware that there is no water pump on the YM1500D.

While that certainly could be true, I have heard that line many times before. Caveat emptor.

Also in my opinion, having 4wd is better than a few hp, at least in the FL sand. My tractor has plenty of hp for what I do, but it seems they can loose traction easily. Wider tires might solve it(rice tires don't help), but using 4wd when necessary is much easier. So a loader shouldn't be your only consideration if you live in an area where traction is an issue. Just my opinion, so take it for what it's worth.
